Just thinking after watching many scenes of soldiers etc from the Middle East and elsewhere firing their Kalashnikovs or whatever into the air...where do the bullets land? Does anyone ever get injured or killed by bullets raining down from above.
I'd be pretty p***ed off if someone on my side wounded me....or worse!!!!

Check out this link

A Turkish Bridegroom killed his own father and 2 aunts whilst firing into the air to celebrate his wedding.
Check out Mythbusters. They investigated this. There are (a very few) records of death and injury caused by falling bullets. If you are unlucky enough to be under one, you can get a nasty injury. If it were to happen while drving an open top car it would be that much worse.
There is a maximum speed the bullet falls, known as its terminal velocity, controlled by the mass and profile of the bullet and limited by air resistance. The larger the bullet, the worse it is if it hits you - but it may not be as fast (and therefore as hard) as one fired at you at a reasonable range.
The bullets would rarely land on the person firing as a) they are not likely to be pointing their guns precicely upwards and b) even if they were, any air movement would push the bullet off the vartical.
And there was me thinking someone wanted directions on what to do with those small vibrators.
I once tried this out with a crossbow to see how far it would fire. It was only when the bolt disappeared into the sky we realised that, by the time we saw it coming down, it could be stuck in us that we ran. Ah the folly of youth !

It's no wonder the guy taken in Somalia was so pleased to be out of it. He must have been terrified that the US forces would volunteer to get him out.
