but its the people that make the community not the site, the site will do and be what it will, but if the ones that want that sense of community dont make the effort to get it, it wont happen, and i am as guilty as anyone of recent apathy.

Res, this site has been through so many changes, one of the major ones was from a free site to a pay site, a lot at the time decided it wasnt for them and voted with their feet, most still remained, yes the site changed, the atmosphere changed, the dynamics changed, but the site survived and so did the forums although in a different state, and this will always be the case.
there was uproar when the site decided to have their own magazine and site members were writing for the mag under another username etc, a special forum was opened for the discussions, some left, some were banned, and again the rest remained and life carried on.
As to the site becomming what is not wanted, its an old cliche but you cant please all the people all the time, i dont get involved in the politics of the site, or if its going to be verified or any of the other bits that are changing, i use the site how i want to, always have and always will, the rest goes on in the back ground for me.
the owners dont make this site what it is, the people do

this site will be here no matter what we agree with or dont agree with, yes i think the forums and community are worth saving, this place has been a lot of my life for the last 5 yrs and i have a lot of friends ive met all over the country. I love the socials and munchs and try to get to as many as i can finances permitting.
again another cliche, you only get out how much you put in, the forums go through phases, i guess the sites go through phases. but at the end of the day its the site members that have the opportunity of making a bit more of what is there for their use.
I also think whenever there are changes, its done fairly and yea probably does cater for the majority, but isnt that just good business, and i do also believe that the integrity of the site is attempted to be maintained. Swinging is becoming a lot more widely known about even trendy if you like so there will always be new people to sign up

They are all great points Earthchild, I can't really comment on how the forums changed in those times as when I used the site in an earlier life I only really went in chat so my breadth of experience is far less than yours.
I wonder then if it is the people that make a community, have we become tired of ourselves? Or does swinging seem to have a natural shelf life for some? Or has that spark of naughtiness gone for some reason or other, if not on the site, then within ourselves? Or is it that just some of the more frequent contributors have "moved on" to pastures new? Be it FB or somewhere else?

I use other sites, and there are more sites appearing all the time, i use FB and the like, but i always return here, cos here is home to be and guess it always will be
i guess i feel like i have been through the ups and down of a relationship with this site in a way.
but life gets in the way sometimes for people, or maybe their experiences have taken them in a different direction and have gone more BDSM etc
who knows, but i know i will still be here randomly spouting shite for the foreseeable future
