I was reading The Guardian today when I came across this:

1 Miami. The waters are awash with people zooming around in speedboats or on jetskis. "Just nipping out for a pint of miiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllk."
2 A model has been shot, usually by another model, invariably in slow motion, at a pool party attended - as luck would have it - by other models.
3 Amid the blondes, a solitary coppertop cop stands out: Detective Horatio Caine. For no reason other than it looks cool, he drops to his knees. "Looks like our suspect." (Puts shades on.) "Just became. A victim."
4 Cue Roger Daltrey and windmill air guitar. "Yeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!"
5 Horatio is hunched, wrinkled and weary - like a human turtle. Horatio habitually addresses everyone by name - even Frank, his partner (not that kind).
"Frank," he growls. "What. Is the time, Frank?"
Another homicide prompts another haiku. "Looks like our victim." (Puts shades on.) "Just became. A suspect."
6 The CSI lab is a cross between a Norman Foster wet dream and Nasa. Holograms of the victims' heads float around the room as laser beams shoot analysis of their bodily fluids on to the ceiling. So, not like The Bill at all.
7 Forensic science is the new high-class escort agency work. Every CSI is a gorgeous, glamorous model with Gucci shades, a permanent pout, artificially inflated chest and tight designer trousers. And that's just Jake and Eric. Unfortunately, the women have had so much plastic surgery they can't move their mouths enough to be trusted with any dialogue.
8 Still, you can never have enough shots of a chick on a gun range. Thus we have a new genre: police porn.

Now although I love CSI I was rolling about on the floor laughing my face off. CSI:Miami happens to be my favourite, and Horatio is just soooooo cool.
Got me wondering though who else on here likes CSI? Which one is your favourite CSI, CSI:Miami, or CSI:NewYork? And who is your favourite character and why?

Miami is SO the worst csi!!!
in addition to the tv critic i can add the comments I am usually hurling at the screen when Mr B watches it, like........
ooohhhh shit!! Horatio is gonna be pissed off now....cos a kids been....dissed/injured/murdered (de;ete as applicable)
because he always gets on his high horse when a kids involved and takes it so personally!!
OMG hes REALLY mad now....hands have gone on the hips, things are gonna get serious!
the woman coroner who does all the PM's....WTF....she always caresses them in slow -mo...strokes them and man handles them waaaayyyy to much, and stuff like that...I swear she practices necrophilia! :shock:
theres always an orange tinge to csi miami episodes.....i think its to fool us that its mega sunny and hot there!
Theres ALWAYS a reason to go to the beach or the marina in EVERY episode
the actors are all so wooden that its like an advert fro mfi each episode lol

the balck guy i like is from the vegas one too. and it's the vagas one i like best. spurs likes the miami one best. he likes horatio and the fact that no matter what has happened his attitude is always the same lol

My interest in CSI has waned for quite a while now but when I was into it I loved it.
My fave was always the original Vegas series. I hate the CSI Miami series with a vengeance because a) it's the least realistic of all of them b) Caruso is working his bollocks off at making himself appear to be enigmatically cool thereby making himself certifiably uncool. In any case I still see him as the Irish gang banger in Hill Street Blues smile

CSI: NY is okay, but again it seems to me to be trying too hard.
Gil Grissome takes a whole lot of beating and the other team leaders don;t even come close.

And the other thing that pisses me off that seems to be a constant across all the different series' is that it always seems to be an imac which solves the whole thing. It's like all they have to do is feed all the case's data into a G4 iMac, let it run a "reverse algorithm" and magically it spits out 'whodunnit'.
The computer science in that programme is so totally unrealistic that I want to throw my wireless keyboard at them! evil
