I passed my driving test on a manual car, but since i got an automatic never wanted to go back to a manual ever again! Which do you prefer?
Manuals have gear knobs to sit on :smug:
automatics dont loon
manual., although the only automatic I've driven was a 4L V6 holden which shifted.
That is of course unless someone wants to give me mclaren slr with auto box, in which case I'll take that instead! lol

I want to see you take a car for a test drive!
I learned in a manual but autos are nice to drive too especially around town and hilly places. I call them the lazy drivers car :giggle:

Mine does my dear. A nicely sized leather one evil
And for my preference, I rather like my 5-speed auto.

 so do I.
How the hell do you press the pedals if your sat on the gear lever?

Hold the satnav in a better position so it doesn't mucky the windscreen?
I have only driven an auto once and I hated it, I didn't feel fully in control.

You do realise that you can drive an auto like a manual, albeit without a clutch pedal?
This is exactly how I drive mine when I've giving it some welly over the Snake or Woodhead passes.

Unwrap opal fruits and stuff em into the drivers mouth, I do that all the time even the ones he doesnt like :laughabove:
Twiddle with the radio tuner until you break it and then put a cd on
Fiddle with yourself carefully so as not to distract the drivers attention wink
Pull a dildo or 2 out of a magic bag and start fiddling with yourself some more until the driver stops at a layby
Decide to shag and land on the gear knob by accident :scared:

Not so much a double penetration, more like a double declutching!

I can't stand automatics. They have no idea when to change gear. I kept grabbing the handbrake wanting to change gear and the engine lost power every time I wanted to overtake anything Rubbish.( I hadn't actually applied the handbrake btw :gigglesmile.
But not as terrifying as a car with an electric handbrake. You press a button and a red light comes on. Whether the handbrake has come on is pure conjecture. The only way I could tell if the brake was on was to get out and push the car.
Why anyone in their right mind would trust their life to a brake that was controlled by an electric switch is beyond me.

It's simple. Push foot down on accelerator hard and kickdown comes into play. Alternatively move gear selector from D to next number down then press accelerator to taste.
I don't know what car you were driving, but I can tell exactly when mine is going to change. I can also make it change to the gear I want when I want. I just don't have to press a pedal down whilst I do it.

It'll never catch on. LOL
To be honest I just hate not being in control - maybe that's a dom/sub thing? Or possibly an engineer thing?

Nah, it just sounds like a "not being used to it" sort of thing. :)
I've been driving autos for about 10 or 11 years now and wouldn't ever swap back... especially in these days of never-ending gridlock.
But genuinely, once you're used to them they are just as pliable/playable/versatile as a manual box. Though admittedly they don't have the wheel-spinning off the mark speed that a slipping the clutch can do.
The only wheel spinning I've done recently is when my front tyres were getting too bald and spun on wet tarmac at the lights. biggrin
Typical girly thing - but I just hadn't noticed they were getting a tad thin.
I'll just casually mention that the knob of manual has no appeal or alternative functionality to me. lol
Which I prefer depends on the situation. I have driven cars in big cities where I had no idea where I was going. In these cases I much prefer automatic transmission. On countryside drives I prefer manual, as I feel safer being able to change down in front of a corner instead of having to rely more or less completely on breaks. If I had to opt for one, it'd be manual, though.
