The BBD was respected and highly regarded by the members because he gave us a free site and common home to hang out in (SH Towers) and for lots of us I think it's true to say our lives changed for ever and we've never looked back.
It was a shock when the site was sold. I don't think he lost the respect of anyone because he did it though. I'm sure most people have their price and he had his reasons for doing it. He did a great deal to further the swinging lifestyle by creating SH and nurturing it to the success it achieved as a free site, and now enjoys as a commercial site.
Another free home was created elsewhere and some of us went there to continue the ethos. We were offered the opportunity by the new owners to stay here if we wanted and to enjoy all the benefits we already had at no cost. Some of us now hang out in both places to greater or lesser degrees. I think everyone's now happy with the way it all seems to work for us.

Personally, I think not.
I was quite vocal about some of the changes that were foist upon us. I pretty much stand by the things I said at the time, and have said since. I still disagree with a few of the changes. Quite strongly.
I think the almost "enforced integration" we now live with is a huge mistake, that is capable of leading to dire consequences.
But I do think the ethos of Swinging Heaven has been maintained - apart from the cost implications.
The site is much, much bigger now. The good things are gooderer, just as the bad are baderer.
I think it's a question of scale.
