Are we saying there are no gangs. No secret groupings?
Does this mean that sense of unease caused by everyone else being in on some joke that hasn't been explained to us, is just paranoia?
Your best, wittiiest, most profound posts aren't ignored because of some conspiracy but just because people aren't that interested?
Now you tell me
Quote by Cock of the North
The world is our clique
The world is a clique
World clique, world clique
"It's fine, and I'm digging it" - Stirring sentiments indeed from Super DJ Dmitri, Lady Miss Kier and the inimitable Jungle DJ Towa Tei. I think we can all learn a little something from their wise words.

Gosh, Inspirational words indeed.
Do you have any other stimulating missives that you can educate our witless brains with?
I hang on your every word

In short, yes.
The chills that you
Spill up my back
Keep me filled with
Satisfaction when we're done
Satisfaction of what's to come
I couldn't ask for another
And if someone doesn't spot that lyrical reference then Lord knows what you have all been dancing to at your office Christmas parties.
Actually, that could be a whole new thread. 'Tragedy'? 'Don't Stop Moving'? 'The Timewarp'? Not 'Come on Eileen'!? Who is going to admit to 'Achey-Breakey Heart'? Confession time one and all. You care to start Splendid?
I'll grant you 'Fairytale of New York' but that's more a drunken singing song (swaying arm in arm optional) than an out and out dancey one.
Cheers

Of course there are people who group together...
Of course there are groups who gossip with each other...
Of course there are groups who have private jokes (from things posted in the past, private messages, social etc)...
Of course there are groups who stick together and follow each others lead (sometimes to the point of being like children "you didn't agree with my mate so I don’t like you" - because their world revolves around a bunch of usernames on a PC monitor)
Of course there are groups of people who have become friends in RL...
Of course some people won't read what you write as they are only interested in what their cyber-buddies write...
Of course there are some sad bastards with no life away from the PC that go all out to conspire against those who don't conform with their neat little world (but they are usually so sad others just nod and forget about it)...
Of course there will be people whose posts you become drawn to because you like their style or are interested in what they say...
Of course there will be people whose posts bore you silly...
Of course some people will feel left out as they see it as something of major importance to fit in...
And of course there will be some people who don't really give a shit what groups there are... and just take it for what it is.
hey... i have just put this in another thread... but i really can't be arsed to come up with something brand spanking new...so here we go!!!!!
maybe it is just me but i don't believe there is the "cliqueiness" factor... because where you would use the word "clique" i would say there is a sense of familularity....
is that any more evident in the forums than in the chatrooms.... with the rooms i have been into the answer would be no...... for example, i go into the "north-west" room i say hello... i get a million hellos back, because they know me, whereas if i go into the "yorkshire" room, i say hello.... no one bats an eyelid (and for the best some people may say smile)
I move up from the south to newcastle 6 yrs ago, and went into my then local for the first time... have you ever imagined walking into a bar and the music suddenly stopping and they are all watching you, well that is how it felt!!! :) :) over time they got to know me and i got to know them.... heck i have even held munches in there function room now!!! but it was a slow process
just with most things in life... you only get one chance to make a great first impression, and it is how you seize that chance that makes a world of difference, which is why when i see a 1st post "moan" it does make me shudder.... (okay that was a little off-topic but coming back to it) if i had gone into that pub 6yrs ago and complained it was cliquey 1st time i walked in, i doubt i would have made the same impression......
the only difference between the chatroom and the forum in that respect is that i have time to think about what i am writing.....the chatroom if you are quick and on the ball is great... but sometimes you can't have anywhere near the depth on conversation you could on the forums.... if i had taken anywhere near the amount of time in the chatroom with this same answer, you all would be miles ahead of me, or onto perving over the next set of tits that were on cam!!!!
biggrin :D

Buh-bum.. buh-bum...
Santa baby, just slip a sable under the tree, for me
Been an awful good girl
Santa baby so hurry down the chimney tonight
Santa baby, a '54 convertible too, light blue,
I'll wait up for you dear
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Think of all the fun I've missed,
Think of all the fellows that I haven't kissed
Next year I could be just as good
If you check off my christmas list
Santa baby, I want a yacht and really thats not a lot
Been an angel all year
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Santa honey, one little thing I really need, the deed
To a platinum mine,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex and cheques,
Sign your x on the line
Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight
Come and trim my chirstmas tree,
With some decorations bought at Tiffany's
I really do believe in you,
Let's see if you believe in me
Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing, a ring,
I don't mean on the phone,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Hurry down the chimney tonight
Hurry, tonight.
This has to my favourite... obviously the original by the late Marilyn is nothing compared to the tender strains of Maria Carey.
I think the song is the last word in the true meaning of christmas and Mariah is the embodiment of sincerity and depth.
Definately a winner in getting me onto the dance floor at any yuletide gathering. Sprinkle a few 21 year old slavering boys around and I am as happy as the proverbial pig.

I don't believe it for one minute. If you weren't photocopying your arse or fumbling with Malcolm and/or Margaret from accounts in the stationary cupboard then I reckon you'd have been on the floor doing the full on 'Oops-Up Side Your Head' rowing dance.
I'd got so far as to say you would be replete with a scattering of tinsel, a party hat at a skewiff (sp?) though jaunty angle and a strategically positioned sprig of slightly dog-eared mistletoe.
That's what happens if you batter the sherry...

I'm not in a gang or a secret grouping.
I do have friends from on here, not just online ones, but real ones, who I see and do stuff with and chat to on the phone. Nowt secret about it though.
There may be hoards of users hiding their friendships from you, but I think most of them tend to display it with their banter and posting styles.
Does this mean that sense of unease caused by everyone else being in on some joke that hasn't been explained to us, is just paranoia?
Occassionally, because we don't keep our friendship secret, little comments and jokes may be used in posts.
It happens with others as well and because I don't know them I let the joke bypass me knowing that it makes sense to them.
What's the big problem with it, I don't need to know everything that's happening in everyone's life. If they're having fun with their friends great.
I enjoy watching it a lot of the time as the jokes are usually never that specific on open forum that others can't join in and some very funny threads can come out of it.
Your best, wittiiest, most profound posts aren't ignored because of some conspiracy but just because people aren't that interested?
Point me in the direction of one and I'll tell you why I ignored it :P :P lol
Now you tell me

Now let's see if you get the in joke. :giggle: :giggle:

Are the gangs on this site well if you go by the definition of a gang by wikipedia then we are all in the gang are we not.
Gang is a group of individuals who share a common identity’
Do we all not here share a common identity?
When I first venture here it was to join the chat rooms but I found that a very scare place, only due to the speed and variety of conversations, I then ventured into the forums and have slowly started to make friends etc. Now there are some people here who really do scare the hell out of me and that’s only due to the fact that I have really had the chance to chat with them as I have had with others. There are some jokes I get some I don’t but hay life’s a bit like that. When I qualified as an ODP I had to get a job at another hospital, there was some people I cliqued with straight away and other that have take over twelve months to get to a point were they will say hello to me in the morning.
Just like here there have been some people I have cliqued with straight away and other I haven’t, one thing I will always remember ‘A stranger is a friend we haven’t meet yet’ and there are a lot of friend on here I have yet to meet in one way or another.
Its all down to personalities each person is different and we all attract different people
Well we don't give a shit about real or supposed cliques, we post where we feel comfortable, and where people relate to what we post. If cliques exist we aint part of em dunno
M
There are bound to be those who have made a place very much their own and others on it's 's how you feel within yourself.I feel like I have good reasons to be here but I am not sure if I have 100% arrived yet - but I hope to one day! smile
You know, it's often newbies who complain/comment on the 'cliques' in here. But I'm sure I'm not the only 'oldie' who sometimes feels right out of it, on the forum AND in the chatroom.
It's not always possible to make a comment on a thread that hasn't already been made - if it's a topic that's been done before, people may have said previously, what they think. That's nothing to do with who started the thread but newbies seem to become paranoid that their threads aren't being posted on. Then they think it's because of a 'clique'.
Oh, and Niceandgentle, I don't feel as if I've 100% arrived either. biggrin

If I say  yep, agree with that FB.... does that make us a clique? rolleyes lol
This site has grown so much over the last year, as has the influx of people here that the 'oldies' feel out of place! miss a couple of weeks here these days and you have no idea who most people are, or they you.

Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this.
What Darkfire and FB said
I dont think I am part of a clique although I do feel they exist... I have people that I banter with because I like their posting style or I know them (like Dawnie for instance) so that may appear to be in a clique so to speak, but I am happy to see new blood on the forum as I like to see the interaction of new members smile

You don't feel that FB after over 8,000 posts?Wow!
My recent first attempt at starting a thread in ages flopped and got locked in a jiffy (and no,it wasn't an offensive topic!)
I feel blank about how I could start one that would be accepted now.I await that thread starter lightbulb over my head lol!
