Why are people so small minded

So now here is a question for you !!!!
Following meeting someone who was in my local room it would appear that everyone has an opinion on the matter and feels the need to make comments on it and always aimed towards me doing something wrong.........I kinda thought this place was for fun so why do people feel the need to turn it into a clique?????
So why are people so small minded confused

PS - I met this person and we have remained friends off the site and it is only these small minded people that are ruining it!!

Cliques always happen imho - i guess after nearly three years on site I can see them come and go and have probablt been in oone or two. What is important though is too keep a sense of perspective. Things xhange and evlve and the important thing is to stick with it.

I have heard the term clique used far too often on this site.
I think that most of the regular people on here have met at some point whether it be at socials or whatever.
And they now class those people as their friends.
And as you do with friends in the real world you interact, you protect, you flirt, you make fun of and any other interaction you do with with real friends.
It's not a clique but a community smile

Nope, I think clique pretty much sums it up. A community is one homogeneous group, whereas a clique is a smaller group within the main one. That sounds a far more accurate description of both the chatrooms and the forum.

Think its gives *some* a sense of power... used in a negative way. So be positive and get back in there and don't them the attention their looking for! They'll soon get bored when they realise nobody is listening!

I have found some of the main rooms in chat can be cliquey.
But heres a thought. Maybe to an outsider the regular forum thread contributors could appear cliquey too???!!

Chat can be cliquey and so can forums, mainly due to the fact that most people (chatters or forumites) have met, made friends and have common interests.
I feel somewhat ashamed to say that I can seen be as cliquey to someone joining chat for the first time in the main chat rooms. We/I use the NW room or whatever its called on any particular day but going into another room we may find that "cliquey"
Weve been on SH since 2003 and much prefered it when there was only 1 chatroom (god I miss mirc)there seemed to be less of a clique then.

that could be because we were part of the clique dunno
