There are now some very well established Clubs in the UK so why don't they spend some money to glam the places up a bit? Chameleons is about as good as it gets but really you only get music downstairs and the rooms are just basic un decorated rooms - poor if any decor, poor lighting and deadly silent.
So many Continental Clubs make the rooms sexy and inviting with piped music, pleated satin and led lights.
I wish someone would make a really classy club and focus on music, sensuality and ambience. I asked once in Chams and was tod it was a sex Club so what is the point.....

I guess it's a matter of overheads. If club owners don't see the point in spending money, and users of the clubs don't seem to mind, then why would they bother eating into profits?
I agree, to an extent. I think it would be great to go into a club that was tastefully designed and decorated. Of course it's all personal taste isn't it? What one person finds sexy and inviting will be a turn off to others. For example, I think your description of pleated satin sounds hideous!
If I were a club owner, decoration would absolutely be high up on my list of priorities. But more importantly, so would hygiene and cleanliness!

Easy way to find out Too Hot, open one yourself and see if it's a success ! Or try Xtasia which we think is as close to Glamour at Cap as you could get.

If a Club is successful, then re-investing the profits to make it better makes sense and it is tax efficient. Geordies mentioned Glamour in Cap d'Agde which of course is fabulous but even the sauna club in Port Ambonne (also in Cap) have really tastefully decorated and sexy private rooms. The music from the main room (deep House / jazz / fusion) is piped throughout the Club and each room has subtle LED lighting. Clearly some people here feel that ripped plastic beds and black walls suffice for the task at hand?

I don't disagree with you. I reckon there's just a fair few folk who are more concerned with profit margins than decor.
I'm all for a bit of tasteful decoration, but as I said, cleanliness is probably further up my list.

I go Chams and although it does need updating in places and sometimes the beds are ripped, they are usually fixed asap, we have on occasions found used condoms on the floor but they are soon cleaned up and they arnt the fault of the owners anyway. The thought of pleated satin and piped deep house/jazz/fusion music makes me laugh as i would have though pleated satin looks very 1970s and that choice of music doesnt appeal to many people hence the rooms are better (imo) to stay as they are, there is music downstairs and in the jacuzzis and in the corridors.
To be honest we are there to have sex and fun, not sit in my grannys sitting room lol

You've not visited Liberty Elite obviously...
Warning - Sweeping generalization comment to follow:
I would hazard a guess and say that it's more about how the swinging/adult club is seen in general by the masses ,,that being as some tawdry sleazy activity that only sleazy tawdry individual/couples participate in and so serious investment is both ignored and avoided.
I visit Cupids and over the years it's been up and down (pun sort of intended) decor wise but for the most part and right now it's clean, quite tasteful in parts but more than that it's functional and provides perfectly for those looking for a night of filth with like minded individuals...
If a swingingclub was to become too precious re it's interior design it wouldn't be a swinging club for very long.

Let's face it: If it can't be washed with a Kärcher, it won't last long in a sex club!

Have you ever tried removing jiz from your eyes? *grinning* I can tell you from experience it's not the easiest of things to do and stings just a bit...I think asking the club staff for use of their karcher would be soon as overkill.

Why not? Most of the Clubs we have been to in Germany, Holland and France pay great attention to detail and try to create a sexy ambience throughout. Music and lighting affect the atmosphere and mood of any place, be it a swinging/sex venue or otherwise.
Crap music or no music, poor lighting and an over-powering smell of frying chips may be all some people need to feel horny but seemingly our European friends think differently.
We must try Liberty Elite sometime, thanks for the heads up - what is it like on a Friday night?

Interesting debate, having just come back from Cap where we did some very interesting digging!! Many of the clubs in Cap run as a syndicate, with profits being merged with black market money. Local shops are charged 25% of turnover to just stay open, non payment is an issue of how much you value your kneecaps!! Couldn't believe the stories we heard, and many shops etc are up for sale to get out asap. The clubs act as the magnet for the tourist, and so believe they have a right to charge others for being the attraction. Would be like us going to the Prem next door and demanding 25% of their turnover, just for being the only local club running!
Biggest difference and reason for the difference in our view is the fact that UK clubs need to work on genuine incoming profit to plough back into club refurbs. With so many clubs, so few spare pounds in peoples pockets, and an increasing number of house party events, that profit, if any, can be quite low!
You also need to bear in mind many clubs are leased, and not owned, so owners are slightly unwilling to plough money into what at the end of the day, is not their building. You also have the over ridding issue of a club being closed down within seconds for any number of reasons, and therefore all money invested in the place is lost. Hope that helps the debate.

True !! Few years ago we saw a limo pull up outside Glamour, few heavies got out then a smallish old man. It was like a scene from the Sopranos !! Think the Godfather may have come to collect his dues.
But on the otherhand, it's a nice safe place !!

There is a bit of a dispute going on at the moment as Babylones pool was sabotaged with iron oxide twice in July the night before their pool party.
Insider assumption is that it Glamour who are trying to maintain their position as the only daytime major event in the village. Fact is that the Babylones and Eden pool parties are free and absolutely fantastic and so must be affecting footfall for the foam parties. Point of interest if you go - watch out for the dry ice bomb in the swimming pool !!
The sabotage actually worked against the perpetrators, if it was Glamour, because the Babylones pool party just got switched to Eden and then took place at Babylones a couple of days later. In other words there were three free pool parties in a week instead of just two.
Irrespective of the mafia/gangster (lol) allegations - there are no such issues in the rest of France, nor in Germany or Holland as far as we know, and the quality is still far superior.

As pointed out by Xtasia, continental clubs don't seem to have the potential planning authority issues that the UK has. Who would invest the sort of money to make a Fun4two in the UK if it could be closed down on a whim?
Personally we like tacky. We've been to most of the major clubs in Holland and far prefer the Sameplace to any of them. For us seedy is good - it seems to attract players rather than posers.

Mmmmm, think this comment makes us feel more uncomfortable than any tacky club. Surely a "super club" if funded by organised crime is not worth it? Okay this is speculation but are the facilities in comparison with the overall cost entry cost? Are we naive in thinking that the clubs in Britain are run by genuine businesses? The thought that any club we have visited has any dealings with organised crime is more repulsive to us than any "seedy/grubby" club, we are swingers but don't want to be unwitting launders of grubby money in the process!

Guess it's a hark back to the fact that in the UK enjoyment of sex was a dirty word. Compare that with say Germany where clubs are generally smart and invariably for example takes some beating (literally as well!)

I regularly go to gay saunas in London, and the standard of cleanliness, decor, facilites and ambience is invariably very good. Go to a straight swinging venue and the place is a dump, very expensive and hideously over priced.
Straight men will put up with the most appalling standards if there may be some sex available, and the club owners know that. And it is the single men who bring in the money.
:swingingchair:
I can only conclude that gays have better taste and are more demanding regarding their surroundings!
If I could set up a swingers club in one of the plushest gay saunas in London - I'd put all the other clubs out of business!

Clearly you have not had the pleasure of attending very many Continental Clubs where the whole ambience throught the Club is sexy and alluring - music, lighting and decor make the atmosphere just as they do in any pub or club.
We love Chameleons as a place but it just could be so much better if they piped the downstairs music throughout the building. We have heard some good reports recently about Cupids so we are going to give it a go Friday or Saturday night this week.

we are more inclined to visit the continental fetish clubs than the swingers clubs as we find the invites to after parties far more alluring, we have been to after parties from multimillion pound penthouses to a Bavarian castle and the thing i like about them is when you get there everyone is equal

We found this a very interesting thread. After 8 in Edinburgh was a dump when we went, but you certainly couldn't say that about Vanilla Alternative and The Hellfire Club which are purpose built. Ab-fabs may be like having a swinging party in a garden center but it isn't a tacky dump.
So to generalise about clubs in the UK is not only harsh but factually wrong. We've not been to the clubs in Europe (thanks for tip on Continental Fetish Clubs), but we do find in the UK the most sensual facilities/ambiance is not in the clubs but in the organised private parties held in houses. They cost more for entry, but then again we find you get a lot more for your money, especially those that go the extra mile to create an erotic party atmosphere.

Spot on.
Its a balance for any business, and adult clubs have to act diligently in the same way or they will close down.
Am waiting for the day for legalised brothels as that will filter down to 'adult' clubs and more money will come in. Imagine Virgin Adult Clubs, they would be lush.
