You have to post an ad. now, I think, to use the site at all. Maybe they can't answer if they are free members. Or maybe they don't like you.

We used to reply to every mail we got, these days we reply to 90%, we always reply to couples or single females but our ad is open to Couples and Single females not single males.
Our profile is clear on the fact we are not looking for single males, therefore we do get tired of the endless e-mails from them which clearly show that they have not read our profile or worse that they have read it and ignored it.
For this reason we cannot always be bothered replying to them, if they cannot make an effort reading our advert properly or our profile why should we bother answering them ?

Hi, we are one of those couples that only looks for single males, so perhaps we are fairly well placed to answer the question, albeit from our own experience.
We have always made an effort to reply to every person that takes the time to write us a message and meets our profile. It's polite and it is after all, what we are wanting.
However there is such a small percentage of the people that contact us that actually meet our profile. To be perfectly frank it gets to the point when you think why waste our time replying to people that don't meet our profile.
Most people who have been on here a while can spot a copy and paste message from a mile away. So why bother writing an individual reply to someone who is spamming the same message without a care in the world, and therefore probably not actually bothering about who they contact.
Our profile asks for a face pic. So if someone can't find thirty seconds to attach one, should we waste our time?
There are a myriad of reasons why people will not reply, these are just a few from our own experience.

Well, in the week or two that I've been back here, I've had a few messages, even though I have no ad and it's clear from my profile that I am not here for sex. Or do the CAPITALS need to be clearer?
I've replied to all messages, but usually with just a "no thanks", and to be fair, it's been less than one a day, so hardly a hardship.
However, in the days that I was meeting, it was always my intention to reply to everyone even if it was a no thanks... the premise being that if someone had bothered to send me a message, then I should be polite enough to say no thanks.
But, that polite, even chivalric attitude faultered, wilted, and finally died. The sheer amount of lame "fancy a fuck" one-liners, REALLY don't deserve my precious time. Life is finite. I do not spend my time dusting ornaments, life is too short, so why spend my time replying to shite like that? Almost as bad are the clear copy and paste replies, the idiots who think that sending a copy and paste war and peace length "sexy" story (really inane, please stop), or the ones that CLEARLY did not read my ad AT ALL, no sorry.... I stopped replying.
Anyone who sent a genuine, well written and friendly reply, even if they were not what I was looking for, got a response. All the others, no sorry. The delete button was my friend.

The problem with most single guys is epitomised by what you are saying:
They don't seem to understand that a couple is two people and both need to be in the mood, have the time, be willing, like the candidate and want to go on to the next step. As a couple there are a multitude of work, family and other issues that can get in the way.
Whether it is deemed cruel, unfair or acceptable we don't reply to everyone and even ones that we do occasionally (like last time) turn out to be complete fantasists who actually run a mile when it comes down to it.
Remember that a sexual meeting is going to involve close intimate contact with the woman and unless she is REALLY comfortable and likes the look of you - you won't be playing with her.
As far as we are concerned we don't believe in equal opportunities and exclusively look for slim to medium build guys 40-50 who are well groomed, articulate and who have a larger than average sized party piece. We only play a handful of times a year when we are both ready for it, so when we do - we pick who is right for us and we judge people (sometimes wrongly) on the effort they have made with their profile, their pictures and how they subsequently communicate with us.
