niether wine, nor beer/lager seemed to benefit me health-wise....
...but then, I was trying very very hard!

Is it the case that healthier eaters prefer to drink wine rather than beer or that wine drinkers prefer to eat more healthily?
Lies damn lies and statistics....
Retailers produce these kinds of reports all the time - another reason Tesco and the like love it when you use your loyalty card (though they don't actually need you to use it with modern day till technology - it just adds more detail, such as age banding, frequency of visits etc.).
As for this particular report, I am sure there will also be some correlation with customer age bands and income groups, which will have had a huge influence on the results.
For example:
Students - low income, more likely to buy beer and junk food.
just as im cooking i thought of another twist to this:
Garlic; do wine drinkers use it more in cooking than beer drinker its certainly healthy.
Tescos now do soaked garlic which i first had in spain, you eat them whole glass of white wine mmmmmm
and yes i have just put a whole clove in.
I gave up drinking alcohol last summer and I feel much healthier for it. I was drinking and smoking way too much at the time and turning into a wheezing blob. So desperate measures were called for. So no drink and I'm down to 10 ciggies a day. I eat healthily and cook meals raw veggies and stuff.
