i have noticed a lot of bikers here on the site so i wanted to post something that may make you think twice about riding without the correct equipment.
this is the yamaha m1. 225 bhp. on qualifying tyres (now outlawed) you could lean the bike over to around 68-73 degrees and still be on half throttle and open fully just as you exit the corners.
to give you an idea of the the final turn (bucine) at mugello you would be hitting over 200mph before the start/finish line and nearly 223 mph before braking it san donato and down to around 45mph in less than a blink of an eye.
the rear of the bike lifts, your gripping the tank as hard as you can because you are being forced onto the tank.
the blast when you raise from the cockpit on the helmet forces you to point forward using the aerodynamic shape to cut through the air.
i have bitten my tongue and ground down teeth due to the pressures involved in just staying on.

if it wasnt for the made to measure suit the middle section of my body would have torn itself apart. it fitted so well that all the titanium and leather sections did there job.
the knees sliders melted down, the elbow armour was burnt but not penetrated.
the body protector was still warm 20 minutes after the crash and the chest protector stopped the tank smashing my rib speed hump on the back was punctured and the fluid from the enclosed drink bottle was pushed out. the back protector stopped the rear of the suit moving and was dented.
the boots broke down to the protective housings which are inside the boot. the gloves melted and had to be cut off my hands due to dislocations and skin loss.
the right arm armour plates moved once the seams had burnt exposing my skin to the track.
so even if you just going to get the paper on your your gear. the best make mistakes and so do everyone. its not cool, not clever or big.
when you have a tyre blow out your helpless.
TY, when I did my training the first thing we went through was, foot by foot, how the skin, flesh, and bone would be torn off the body even in a slow speed slide. In Skin V Tarmac, tarmac wins every time.
Thank you for posting that- if it stops one would be hero zooming round town in shorts and a t-shirt, it's worth it. It's a real personal gripe- and don't even get me started on riding gloveless...
look at lorenzo here.
the famous hi-side.
what causes this? in my experience tyres which are not up to race temperature or part of the tyre not up to race much acceleration exiting a corner before the bike is balanced. to the common man the whiplash effect.
the bike loses grip, then slips, suddenly re-grips fixing its position with the is thrown due to catapult effect.

this is one of the worst biking accidents because you just dont know when it will happen.
the injuries are also very ankles, neck injuries, skull damage and internal bleeding.
as you can see from the picture lorenzo is already in serious trouble, the bike has flipped because the power has turned the bike over.
the tyre contact patch is no greater than the width of a 50p around 210bhp out of a 800 cc bike weighing less than most 125s and you got problems.
here he got on the power to much to soon and split second later he's hurt.
broken ankles.
i have seen many road riders doing this sort of thing on bikes they just cannot respect.
power is nothing without control and here is a prime example.
which is why i give lessons in braking and overall bike control.
The tare and the hortoise comes to mind...

Think I'll stick with a slower pace of life!
Yes I have a good quality helmit, leathers, boots and gloves.
Sadley this did not help save the three friends I have lost over the last 20 years
