I have a person on here that I consider as a friend, although we have never met, have been chatting here for around 2 years. I have not seen him in chat for a while but know he is ok as seen him around the forums.
But this morning I wanted to let him know I have missed seeing him in chat and wondered if I would look silly sending him a pm just to hint that I have.
I look at pm’s as personal but then thought hopefully it would be nice to know I have missed the old git.
Do you send pm’s wondering after if you look silly.
Or do you just send them away?
Do you like recieving a little message from someone knowing they have thought about you?

What harm can it do to say hello and ask after someone. After all it can be rather pleasant to recieve a PM from someone who has missed you and know that there is someone out there that cares.

Funny you should mention this - I noticed a few names on the forum list, and as I hadn't been on the site for 2 or so years, I PM'd them to say hello and to ask how they are. They replied.
I have no problem in doing such a thing, as I consider them friends. I would be very happy if someone was to PM me in a similar way

Some of the loveliest pms ive had have been those off the cuff ones and somehow always come at the right time eg when im fed up or even considering leaving the site. Makes me remember why i never hit that cancel button

I sent someone an email last week cos i've not seen them about for a while, then i bumped into someone who sees her at least weekly and told him to give her a prod towards her inbox.
like others have said, most people like to know they're missed, even if they don't reply at least they know you made the effort in that moment

We would send it to. Mrs P has just had an op on her shoulder and it has been a great moral booster for her getting pm's from our friends on here. Not to mention motivation to do the physio and get fit again sooner! We say send it!

I did send the message yesterday morning, but then thought after he is going to think I am a twit for sending it, as I know he thinks I am twit anyway. 
I just had the impression after he recieved it, that he thought Minx you are a big twit.
Hence me writting the op and I felt like a twit, as in shouldn't a friend know naturally that you think of them, or do you have to remind them from time to time. But I dont think he does.
