Right I'll try again redface

The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed that we don't have an advert......it's not for want of trying I sat here t'other night with a blank page and a blanker mind confused

the same with Pk though being blonde hers is blank by default bolt

In our view a good ad should be humorous, informative and descriptive all of which i can do on the froum regually and with ease however when I post its always spontainious I never think before I post otherwise my mind just empties so some times it works some times it doesn't lol

Now I know peoples views on what makes a good ad vary but I was just wondering do others find it easy to spout bollox on the forum but struggle to express them selves when it comes to posting adverts and such?
Sheddy who is seriously thinking of putting this in his signature if ya want a fuck click here lol

We struggled with our ads as well Sheddy.... When I read ours they always comes across as a bit harsh redface

Its hard (i find) to get that fine line between stateing what your looking for without seeming selfish or demanding confused

Ummmm sheddy... I would think about what you want eg we only have time for Splendid33 cos she is a reet goer..........and just write it as you see it. Mine goes through a regular metamorphisis.....

I think that's the key.
Try using the same ethos for your ad ??

I'd suggest the question . . . .
Are you wanting to write an ad "looking for something" (that's the one HLB has at the moment) or would you prefer to have a more "This is me/us" type thing" (that's what I used to have as a single - and it worked redface

) But that was before we had as now, the free space in profiles.
I think sometimes it's a good idea to have a "This is us" type thing as the "stock ad" then change it as when you look for something less "general"

i write our adds,mrs cream edits our adds,i then edit what she's edited,we then scrap it and start again..eventually after a few re-writes we get a completed add,,every now and again we go and have another look at it and maybe change a few things or add a few things,depending on what is already wrote and wether they are still relevant..we also get ideas of other peoples adds...

When I do have an 'ad'. I write it very much as a 'this is me' type thing - a profile in effect, just longer and more detailed than the literal profile .............. and as its in the ads section, people either respond to it or they dont dunno

suits me, and it works - I dont get many 'direct responses' to the ad itself, but I do tend to get pm's that say 'oooo I dint realise that..... would you like to.....' :thumbup:

Forumites with photo ads.... has the world gone mad? confused

Isn't it all about socials and post-counts and getting yourself known confused

Aren't photo ads a waste of time and only used by the 'quick-shag' types confused

Aren't photo ads a waste of time and only used by the 'quick-shag' types my personal oppinion, generally yes - stand-alone ads dont work. Ads written by people you can become 'familiar with' through the forum/ socials etc, do.

Deleted the ad I had written as it was so naff. In fact, was cringeworthingly embarrassing. Now I just hang round in the chat rooms and talk, seems far easier and not so clinical.

Aaah now I look at ads in a professional way having spent years writing ads and brochures, I can't help but notice bad grammar, crap spelling and unflowing text. rolleyes

Advice on writing an ad - I would aproach it in the classic way of writing complaint letters. Write out everything you feel, do not edit, worry about spelling, etc just write from the heart. Carry on until you have got the contents of your mind on the paper/screen. Write exactly what you feel, what you are looking for, not looking for, (don't hold back) and don't stop till you've emptied your mind.
THEN, leave it overnight preferably, re-read it and edit, changing words to make the ad sound less harsh/silly/jokey etc. Then check spelling, grammar and flow. Change sentencing, paragraphing where it needs it.
Keep re-reading, get others (may not be so easy for some! he he) to read for good flow.
I feel a new business venture coming on....writing SH ads...he he...trouble is would have to interview my candidates first on a fact finding mission!

We've discussed which account to use to post the ad's now this one has all the pics on it but would it look better posted from the other account that has an obvious more female user I D ?

cant see there being that many but we did wonder if a more male user iD instead of a neutral one would get people who didn't know use wondering if it was the typical single male pretending to be a couple ?
