Wrong Chat Room ?

Thought we'd take a look at the chat room , expectin the wonderful witty crowd we encounter here . Stumbled upon a couple of girls on cam and a long list of desperate silly assholes using their totally lack lustre charm skills to try and convince them to strip off . It was no better than the hundreds of Turkish cam asshole rooms peppered over the net ! Now i know there are some kewl fun folks from here who use the room , so was Iin the wrong one ? Or has it become the sad place it appears ?

Steve my attitude is a matter of lengthy public record . It doesnt however alter the fact that the banter in the room I entered ( even before I displayed my 'attitude') was roughly akin to a cheap online rub-shack. . Sorry if my impression was wrong Im just telling you what I read there . But hey youre the Chat Op not me , if thats the kind of atmosphere that you are after then I am no one to say its wrong . I was just dissapointed . Dont worry you guys can have as much fun in the chat room as you like , my comments wont make a jot of difference . I must confess I didnt notice the digs - I should pay greater attention - perhaps Im used to sharper rapiers than the swordsmen in there were capable of brandishing , or perhaps their swordsmanship was hampered by being of the one handed variety.

I have to say Big G that when the chatroom first changed to the one we have now I was quite scathing in my comments to the what I call "one handed typers".... It has taken a while but I am now a little more used to the way they all "chat the ladies up"... I still have the occasional word here and there about how crass some of them sound but on the whole I accept how it has changed...
I miss the banter in the old chatroom but that doesn't mean to say that it isn't still there.... It's just a matter of knowing where to find it smile

If you dont like the way people chat in a certain room then the solution is easy.....Use another one......Or create your own...
Its no good coming in here slating certain groups of members......
The same would happen to anyone who came in here and slated what happens in the forums....Of that I have no doubt and if the search button were my friend I would doubtless be able to find proof of that to show you...

Yeah Shireen , my 'attitude' can make me seem a tad harsh perhaps , but thats all I was really saying-and Im sorry if I rubbed Steve up the wrong way ( although Im sure hes still sore about the shirt crack lol) I was just commenting on the atmosphere of a small time spent there . Truth is absolutely no one was chatting when i went in and it was just repeated comments like " why dont you show us your pussy........." and " stand up and turn round....." etc . Which will hardly bring you back again and again for the wit . It is fine if thats what folk want , but not what I expect of the people of SH - especially entertaining ones like you and Steve who I expected might be in there . I wont lose sleep over it , and in fact on the back of Steve remarks I had another look just now and its seemed more relaxed and the wankers seemed to have gone to bed letting the real people talk . All it is seems to be a matter of bad timing - and perhpas had I been fortunate enough to have your comment first that would have answered my questions and criticisms . Pass my handshake on to Steve wont ya . wink

maybe you just caught it at 'numbty hour'........when we do a room we dont lock it but inform the forum users we are there....generally most people are polite etc but you always get a few who arent and its upto the room owner to control these.........generally pub closing time is pretty bad but as long as the room owner is on the ball its kept under contrl........whislt the ops do a great job, we can't expect them to police all of the site at anyone moment........
unfotunately we havent had chace to do our room lately but we find that wen we do, do it, it actually teaches people more than anything..........ie some people come in whispering and directing.....we tell them its not allowed in there.........they stop and either leave or join in with the banter and have a laugh with us all in there......... lol

Hell No... how can a chatroom be sad... & by who's criteria?
Not sure if I can be called a chatroom 'vet' yet but one thing I do know... you cannot go into a chatroom & start blazing away trying to show how witty you are...
yes one or two make be on the same wave length but as in 'real life' people wanna take time before wanting to join in with your witty remarks and comments!
I regally cruise the rooms.. a polite hello to who's on cam usually breaks the ice,
a giggle here & there with someone name in your comments will draw the room to you..
when someone gets to know you & you enter that room again you will be welcomed with hello's & other forms of weird & wonderful greetings & pretty soon when you leave it will be like the extended Walton's name list role call before you leave!
Many rooms I have a giggle & a banter.
The Kent room is cool...
I try to get into Jo's room but that's usually full
omg I've even saw sarge & pissed myself laughing!
the black on white room is totally fookin mad... but then that's just coz I know many peeps in there!
The thing is.... & this may come a a shock!... not everybody on SH likes the same thing as you or I...
surprise surprise... some girls like to watch guys having a fiddle!
bi - guys love to watch straight guys
some girls do get upset when no -ones watching them!
So in that respect I say...
If don't like what we see... or cant see or get what we want how can we endorse a chat room as sad place to be?
A chat room would not be a chat room without people in it making it what it is.

I think what you need to do is find a regularly opened user created room and basically use that.....That way it becomes very much like the old mIRC room in as much as its usually the same crowd who use it with one or two newbies thrown in for good measure....
If its the same room as well it tends to be run by the same one or two people and therefore is often run quite well and is a pleasant place to be..

I think Big G should be the "Chatroom Mystery Shopper"
He and Silky could try out the different rooms and do a report on each one.
All we need is some questions for him to rate each room. Marks on a scale of 1 to 10:
Conversation skills
1 handed typers
Direction
Derogatory tones
Artistic Impression

Yes there are some folk that really used to annoy me in the chat rooms when I first joined, but now I tend to be much more relaxed about it all as the main protagonists generally behave the same with everybody, not just me.
To me I see it as like a really busy pub, with different groups of people doing and talking about different things. Iâ€™m not going to warm to every group.
Usually I go into the forum chat room if I fancy talking, but if I do stray into the other rooms I have a way of dealing with the unwanted comments etc. If I get whispers or lewd comments from folk when I first enter a 'room' I simply try another one, 99.9% of the time I will end up finding a person or persons that are funny and interesting and I end up having a great chat.
Works for me anyway.

The Forum Room is okie pokies.....
I did venture in one of the other rooms....once, and couldnt understand why only one person was chatting to me. I didnt realise that I had clicked on a name so I was whispering some fella... redface

He must have thought I was a tad nuts. Oh ok I am...thats besides the point!
I feel quite comfy in the Forum Room.. everyone makes you feel welcome. Its good to actually chat to forums names that you recognise and *maynot* have talked to otherwise.

I think think there just may be somthing special happening with "forum chat!" ... .but how it develops we must wait and see ! of course there are just as many good rooms and each do have a following. what room may be good for me may not be good for somebody else but like posts in the forum some take off, some drop like the lead balloon ! lol

Panther mate , if I had a pound for every minute Silky and I had spent in various chat rooms over the years Id buy you some new pants with decent elastic in them :-) - but seriously It was never meant in a totally negative sense although my original posting was a tad sour it was merely dissapointment . We dont really do the chat thing any more , because we got a little bored of it after so many years on the net . I just expected some of the wittier scribes from in here to be more obvious , although as ive said that may just be timing . I think as usual Steve Mids idea is a good one , although I am not naturally a person that supports elitism , a more slect way of entering the room may be kewl . As for Mystery Shopper Blonde :-) when was there ever owt mysterious about us ?? :lol:

i have frequented the rooms, and have to say, of all, the forum room is my fave, because via the forums, people reveal sides of their character, you may never get a chance to see, so when i have been in there, there has been people i 'know', peoples whose postings i have followed, and enjoyed
their chats in the forum room is no different, a great bunch of people

Forum chat has been around since February! and I think PoshShed was'nt too long after it. They were started basically because we felt the same way as alot of others from Forum when we were in other chatrooms (correct me if I'm wong Sheddy and Kate). I used to play a tiny bit and I got sooo fed up with whispers, lewd comments and downright rudeness that I decided to open Forum room and send everyone I wanted to talk to, the password by PM. So now we can choose to either chat to those we know or frequent the rooms we know may be a little more adventurous. The beauty of the Forum room is that it can be opened by anybody at all as all the regs know the password. Obviously those that don't frequent the forum are unlikely to open it or join it as they won't know the password. Nice and simple.
I agree Peenut with what you said in the other thread a couple of times, definately needs a sticky :thumbup:
