XBox Kinect - opinions on worthwile purchase appreciated

I know we are not a commercial advertising site - and I don't want to change that. But I'm looking for people's experiences/opinions on this.
I have an Xbox 360. I am thinking about forking out for a Kinect thing to play with. I won't be getting any of those mad dance things you see on the adverts. But I quite fancy playing whole-body games (well, being a swinger, you may not find it that surprising - but moving on :giggle smile

. Is it worth getting?
Do any of you fine people have experience of playing Kinect and would you recommend it to others?
I have a Wii and enjoyed that but got a bit fed up of the restrictions caused by the board. And it was bloody cold on the bare feet in winter.

A few of my friends have em and they are a real hoot, I dont think I would have one though as the novelty of all console games wears off pretty quick for me.
Plus they still go for good money second hand on ebay so if you dont like it you wont be too much out of pocket ;)

Honestly dont think this is a novelty thats going anywhere. This is the way games consoles will eventually be no controllers 100% actions. May take some time but Ive no doubt thats how it will end up. Started with the wii mote and the idea has been around longer than that. This below is epic from 2000 :shock: when believe it or not the Dreamcast could do most things an Xbox 360 can today i.e. Broadband games, voice chat, camera, online community etc. Some things are just ahead of thier time but this has been on the cards for ages.

We got one each for the kids last Christmas. They were a pain in the arse to set up but that was probably just us being text biffs! They love them though. Can't say I've ever played on them but its not really my thing.

I just bought one after Christmas. Much more fun that a Nintendo Wii.
I'm in keep fit mode at the moment and the 'Fitness Evolved 2012' game for the Kinect is brilliant. It also has a Bootcamp trainer who is quite vocal in getting you to achieve your goals. smile
