Just seen the ad for Yakult again tonight, and it makes me cringe every time i see it....I dunno why but I imagine (and where I got this idea I dont know) that Yakult is kinda like drinking milk thats 'turned' cos its been left out in the sun for a day or two.....

Ohhhhh I so used to think that until I tried one, and I still wanted to puke.
I reckon they taste like watered down yoghurts...blurgh!!
I've tried them once or twice - mainly when they've been giving out free samples in the street (Activia I think), and I agree there's not much taste to them.
Expert opinion appears to be divided on their benefits - good article here:
I have never drunk the probiotic drinks, the thought of drinking bacteria however they dress it up as good makes me feel queezy and I just can`t bring myself to drink it.
In Wenchy's world, the thought of the yoghurt is
bad enough! Stuff thats gone sour?
:spew:
litre bottles   :emeticon: )genius that northy xxx)
goosey you sick sick man!!!
I tried one - it tasted exsctly like watered down bio-yogurt. But then - if you check the contents - that is exactly what they are.
As to whether they are 'good' for you. I've never come across reports of them doing anyone any harm - apart from the unecessary calories they contain.
They claim to 'help support your digetive whatever'. That is complete b***ks.
In the case where your digestive process doesn't work properly (IBS is a good example) because your body doesn't produce enough of the right kind of food-processing bacteria or similar condition, they may indeed help - just like bio-yogurt would.
In the case (90% of us I suspect) who don't have any such condition it has no beneficial effect at all. If you have enough 'good bateria' adding more won't have the slightest effect. Having too much could well give you a brief dose of the trots, but not harmfully.
Personally I wouldn't waste my money.
