Random note to say that FINALLY people in the south of the country are organising socials a plenty!!! Myself included - though I have tried and failed in the past - I don't care if no one turns up, it's great to see some effort being made.
As the title says, just a random YEAH!!!! x
forgive my nievaty, but i honestly don't know what a "social" is. sounds like a drink and a chat. but is there more to it?. genuinely don't know. without being nasty, it sounds like a group of people getting together who would like to have a full on meet but not sure about actually doing it. seriously enlighten me. no joke

I do ;)
If people dont attend why would people organise others in the future. Its how the drought down here started, so fingers crossed for lots of people at all these events :bounce:

Well in a way it is for some a way of getting together when your not sure about actually doing it.
Most socials are held in vanilla venues (non lifestyle venues) like function rooms in pubs etc. No play takes place at a social though many people have hotel rooms booked for thier stay and can invite people back or home if they are locals.
The whole idea is to get together with like minded people or those that are interested in seeing what the lifestyle is all about without the pressure of thinking they will have to do something about it there and then, you have a drink, make some new friends and generally have a good night out.
Personally we have only been to one social (the Derby Social) it was excellent, felt very relaxed because everyone knew that there was no pressure to play with anyone, good buffet, great disco, fun games (that your mother could play not sexual but designed to get people chatting) and at the end of the night many went on to a local club.
The dress code is of course as you would wear to go to any pub, so again no pressure there, unlike some clubs that have "strip down" dress codes.
There are experienced people and "newbies" in abundance so you can gain knowledge from those in the know or tremble with the other newbies not feeling "the only one"
Long live the social.

Socials are organised for people who can't be arsed, or just don't want, to fill in their profile. wink
Its a good way of being able to actually meet people and (in some cases) realize that they look fuck all like the photos on their profiles. dunno
You can chat, mingle, have a good perv....sorry look, in person :smitten: drinkies
Its a sort of a way of saying "our profile might be shite, but look, we really are genuine, so don't jump to conclusions just because we aren't feeding the picture collectors" :wanker:
These are the view's of both lilnfil. Although some truth is spoken above, don't take any of it too seriously, because we don't. :high-smile:
Life can be serious enough, recreational sex with other people we find attractive, is nothing more than a lot of fun hump
Pink - I sincerely hope people will come along, I know that myself and Jay will be there - so we'll see what happens!
Lil - what a pessimistic view!!! Though a worrisome one! I just thought it would be a good way to see if people in the south are willing to meet up and say hello - it is in this instance just a friendly social - though I am hoping to hoodwink some southern friends of mine to attend!
smile x

Congratulations on your centennary...
i use to go to the socials in bristol and enjoyed all of them.
was always good to meet people again and it was always a good night out.
a few drinks, off to a night club and then pile back to a hotel room for more music and chat.
fond memories of good times.

lol Thats the attitude to have  We once did drinks where only we turned up  but then as we always said in our ad's were going anyway regardless of anyone else going or not. Good to see some South action alas still nothing going on in the South west and has not been for some time sad

Remember you came to at least one of ours. Would do more but organising socials requires that you are a minor chat room celebrity other wise no one puts names down. Thats something I dont have time for so sadly I dont bother anymore. I do check the LMU every week or so for anything in the area but there has not been anything other than those organised by us in about 2+ years. Sad really :(
That said lack of events in the area led us to clubs which reignited our activitys  As the saying goes one door closes another door opens.
we love the socials just a shame we couldnt make this one or any for a while as liza has just had an op
look forward to the ones in the summer though
I hope Liza is doing well - I will definitely organise another one in the summer - take care AV xxxx
