I've got a dentist appointment at 9am and I'm scared shitless! :scared: It's only a check up ( for now confused ) but knowing how Uber sensitive my teeth are, I'm cacking my pants already :?
I feel incredibly daft, especially when I try to put a brave face on it in front of my son. I've tried Rescue remedy Spray ( high as a kite on it as I type  ) and other methods. I know it'll only last max 20 mins but it's been on my mind all night in work.

I feel for you kiss , im terrified of dentists too. the last time I went I nearly fainted as I got up from the chair so they had to make me sit back down and ease me up a little at a time redface
You have to try and think happy thoughts wink
Whats this spray you talking about? I could do with some of that
Louise xx
It does not bother me a bit, does that help? I wish I knew why some have fear of the dentist, I do not. I must be a loon.

You're just weird
Louise, it's called Rescue Remedy and it's a flower extract that you spray under the tongue and it's suppoed to calm you down. It's not worked yet confused

I would think its to do with bad experiences in the chair.
I've only ever had 1 filling in my life and when I was 11.
I had to have 5 baby teeth pulled out cause my adult teeth decided to grow behind them instead of pushing them out.
I had gas that time to knock me out .. well it was 1966. I was violently sick afterwards and it did put me off going to the dentist again for a good while, despite it being free back then.
Hence the filling. Now I go for regular checks and cleaning so I know I won't have to have anything else done. Stitch in time etc etc.
For may people its a long and unpleasant experience.
No wonder they hate it.
Get a sexy looking dentist Sassy ... that helps a lot lol biggrin

Tell your dentist when you get there that you're scared hunny, obviously not in front of the little one though. I stopped going to a dentist for about 5 years because they terrified me and it was only incredible toothache that made me go. I told my new dentist that I was scared of him at the time and he was lovely. He asked me how I wanted to play it. Gave me the options of him chatting to distract me, chatting about what he was doing or just getting on with it in silence. I opted for him talking me through everything, so he told me what he was doing and why and he generally made me feel a lot more at ease. He didn't make me feel silly for being scared at all and was very reassuring and told me I had to speak up if I wanted to take a break at any time and he'd give me a 5 minute breather. Probably took a lot longer than normal to get that filling, but for me it was well worth the time and patience he had with me.
Have to say since that first visit I don't get as scared as I used to.

No it doesn't confused
I used to have gas when I was a kid too and I was always violently sick afterwards. I suffer with bone loss ( which they reckon may be linked to oesteoporosis ) and when the bones in my mouth crumble, my teeth get loose and they have to be taken out, hence partial dentures. My jaws aren't strong enough to take implants, caps or bridges ( phew! ) so dentures it is. Apparently it's hereditary and my Dad and Mum both lost theirs at a reasonably early age plus my sis had a full set of falsies in her early 40s.
That said, at least the dentaist doesn't have to do knee to chest to take my teeth out as they're loose anyway :?
My butterflies are threatening to take over so I better be off. bolt
Just got back. My loose tooth is even looser now thanks to having impressions done ( anyone mentions Mike Yarwood gets a kick up the bum :kick: ) Got a visit to the hygeinist in 2 weeks then another visit for 3 teeth out and new gnashers fitted confused
Valium anyone?

I'm going again at 2pm today, fun!
