A large number of people seem to enjoy witnessing pain/cruelty inflicted on strangers, hence the popularity of reality tv.
Many people will also join in any attack, safely preying on the already vulnerable. These are probably the same people who back up any popular person or comment.
There are always people who will speak out from their hearts and not these popular trends, their strength of character is quietly admired and their softness is heart warming.
They may even be a hidden majority, hidden behind the noise of popular culture which is created by tv, radio and much of the internet.

Yes used to always listen to it... think its still on some nights! I did love listening to the Wind Up show tough, some of it was so funny.

We make light of others misfortunes as we think "at least i didnt/it wasnt me"
It doesnt matter how bad the thing that happens... we gigle as it wasnt us, and thank which ever god we pertain to, or not as the case may be...
Its human nature to, not as such take the piss out of others... but rather think "ouch" that could have been me at some point... its funny because its true and at least it wasnt me that was the butt of the joke, death, genocide, !
