We are going to Seans do on saturday and although i have attended before my partner hasn't. I reassured her that although all the people there will have defined sexual outlooks they are like me and her in that they are good fun and in my experience intelligent and witty. (well the majority) :doh: The evening is about socialising and having fun. My partner has a huge flaw after 5 Southern Comforts (minimum) will dance even if the dance floor is empty and on her own is not a problem . I am looking forward to testing that weakness out on saturday.. I don't blame her for being a little nervous as i remember my first munch.. Turning up as a single male i was bloody terrified Although everyone was fabulous i looked around exchanged some nice banter with some single men then managed to chat to Dundeecouple not realising Mr Dundee (sorry forget name) was infact a CD (hey i saw him from a distance first and my eyes were blurred by smoke ) :D They really made me feel welcome however politely declined their offer to be Bi for one evening only....Mind you he did look good My awkwardness departed and i thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I do understand though peoples reservations and fears but im sure i will feel the same again on Saturday as its her first munch and i will be doing the first timer fear with and for her,..... :P Mind you she will prob suprise me and be her usual self no matter what the group is and be wonderfully sociable and chatty So after a well drawn out post what was your first experience ?
Notts, 2004. Chilled. Met our (now) b/friend & g/friend. Got laid by a very nice "small pervert". Made lots of money for an MS charity. Nervous? NEVVAAARRRRRR. No need, tell her.
My first munch (many moons ago :shock: ) I walked into a room with another person and we knew only 2 people in the room, but the munch organiser made us feel welcome and made sure we had people to talk to and where the bar was!!! Since then, I have been to loads, and now there are very few people I dont know :lol: All have been IMO great fun and many more to come please.............
My first munch was Nottingham last October... Being as nervous as a cat in Battersea dogs home.... still recovering from pluerisy so I couldn't drink to take the nerves away... and hiding behind wishmaster most of the night. It was quite an experience and the time flew by. It wasn't until it was all over that I realised how enjoyable it had been... and how welcoming and friendly everyone was. Stepping into the venue was the worst part for me... almost bolted there and then. Would also add that if it hadn't been for Wishmaster phoning me that evening to tell me i HAD to come, i probably wouldn't have, as I still felt quite ill, but maybe that was an excuse to not come... so I can understand why some newbies are "no-shows". I think if i hadn't of gone to Nottingham I may not be sitting here typing this now. Munches and meeting people and putting faces to names makes everything that happens on SH more interesting and real.
Postie I didn't have Wishmaster to call me . I had the feeling of letting people down. to stir me I had assured i'd go and when the day came it was well umm ummmm :wary: On the day of the Munch my descision making wreck of a mind was like a pin ball machine.... Should i shouldn't i Should i Should i maybe maybe It was doing my head in So at 4 pm i booked a taxi Ant then i couldn't let the taxi driver down The result I went thoroughly enjoyed and am in a position to introduce another to the people on here Ohh i know u are all lovely :D
Manchester, 8 May 2004. I think I stayed in the same part of the pub all evening, and in the first half of the evening I spent a lot of time chatting with the only two people I had previously met. Was too scared to circulate, so I only spoke to the ones who circulated round past my area. Later on I chatted with a few more people, and I remember being entertained by a duck. Ahhh..twas a northwest munch in the dim past. Had all the details, route sorted out, got the hotel booked and then stapled everything together in a very organised way so I didn't lose anything, only to get to Birmingham and have mrs davej fling the lot out of the window whilst she clearing out the door bin to make way for a few more toffee wrappers, which meant that all I knew was that I had a hotel booked in a certain area of Manchester, but hadn't a clue which one, fortunately after stopping at two and getting a negative reply to the question, "do you have a mr and mrs davej booked in here" we hit on the right hotel. The night was made a bit easier as we met up with a few people in the bar of the hotel which kinda broke the ice for us. Arriving at the venue was made all the more easier as the first person I met was WBB who already knew a few people, so she whisked me round to make some introductions. From what I remember the night just went so bloody quick and I didn't get a chance to meet half the people I wanted too, which seems to be the experiance of a lot of other people, just not enough hours to grab everyone and say hello, but it is a huge bonus to put some faces to names and I've found it helps me when reading posts. Second munch was easier on account of us turning up a week early so we kinda knew where we was going when the proper night came round.

The first munch we attended.....? Well I'm writing this without the aid of my social secretary, who would be able to not only confirm which one it was, but could probably even say what I was wearing. Well we've been to 15 (i think) and the first one was NW Munch I in Manchester organised by Steveg_NW :worship: :worship: What a fantastic night. Very different to the munches of today. By that I don't mean better, or worse, just different. Rather than walking into a room of strangers now, for us it's more a case of who don't we know. Ian

Leicester Mini Munch, thank you LC, didn't know a soul, but LC and Sexy Steph made sure I met plenty of people, had a great night, met some fantastic people,, and am just disapointed that I can't get to all of the Munches. John

Mine was in July (I think), Nottingham. I was scared as anything but had my chaperone who did a fantastic job. It helped that we met up with a few people in the hotel bar beforehand, I felt somewhat reassured and at ease :) The Munch itself was excellent. After a few nerves, then a few drinks I spoke to lots of people (I still can't remember some of their names!), circulated quite a lot and it went by in a flash but had a very good time
Well my first munch is the plymouth one at the end of the month... I am suffering from trepidation at the thought of being a single young male... and feelling all out of place amongst the couples... but I am sure the lovely friendly people on this site will soon overcome that... I have been here long enough to feel confident enough that I will be made to feel comfortable rather than shooed into a corner. To anyone that is going... please look after me!!!! I am looking forward to it... and I booked my hotel... so no chance of me bottling out... but will be touristing round plymouth durring the day, just incase the whole evening turns out to be awful then it won't be a wasted trip (not that that will happen)... incidentally anyone else in plymouth durring the day is welcome to join me... end of october by the sea should be nice and bracing.!

Thanks Wirral guy I'm sure we will have a great time. Its a starter for her a we have replied to an add and she enjoyed chatting to the female. I have to explain that a Munch isn't a "get yer kit off and lets have a drink" do that she has inscribed in her head (albeit if she does decide to go that way i will , for the sake of others turn another cheek) :shock: But once she realises this on saturday i do hope to enjoy it more. I would say that i have utmost faith in my belief she will bloody enjoy the chat as a liberated girl would and we will be fine.... Oh is that an offer I can't refuse??... am looking forward to it already now :D:D:D See it is just like I said... people on here are so warm and friendly... I have nothing to fear... except for all you crazies chasing me into a corner to do wicked things BTW I will probably hit the red bull rather than too much booze... so watch out... because that stuff tends to keep me awake all night and make me talk really quickly... so don't let me drink to much... its worse than the booze.
My first Munch was about 18 months ago in Surrey. I went on my own and didn't know anyone, so being notoriously absent-minded I printed up some name tags and made everyone wear them so I wouldn't forget their names, and thus a tradition was born. :lol2: Despite being a complete stranger to everyone there, I was made to feel like part of the family as soon as I walked in, and I want to reassure anyone who's feeling nervous about their first Munch that every one I've been to since, about a dozen I think, there's been the same welcoming atmosphere. :thumbup:
My First Munch was london this year. I had been to socials before but this was my first munch. Luckily I had already met people at socials so i knew some people. To be honest, I wasnt on top form maby due to having a bad time at work and not feeling great. So I came across as a moody git. Oh well. I soon made up for it at the subsequent munchs i have been to - i must admit i cant rember who or what i did.... MikeC

My first event was a Manchester mini-munch in feb, I went alone, having only been around a few weeks (I was lucky to be invited so early and a thanks even now to organisers for taking a chance on me!) and I was absolutely petrified! Well, guess I just took the bull be horns so to speak and walked over to say Hi, and after being accosted by a trannie who now steals my clothes, a leprechaun who definately 3ft tall, the infamous bluexxx (she aint that scary) and littlegem, who is indeed a little gem, well the rest they say is history. I have met so many fabulous people, some of whom I now call friends, I feel like I have been here forever (I'm still looking for the door, but haven't found it yet) and I've even started organsing socials etc, and I'm generally having a great time.
well, my first will be the scottish munch in Nov. having spoken to a few people who are going I can't wait to actually meet them all in the flesh. should be a great night.

Curiously, I wasn't nervous at all at my first (and only so far) munch. Mind you I was still half cut from the pre-munch lunchtime drinks where I'd been 'initiated' by a beauty called Deborah - I was sitting in the bar on me lonesome and then this luscious whirlwind in black enveloped me - what a way to start! I was also very grateful to Sarah for having the foresight to put me on SH Pin selling duties - I met 50% of the munchers in the first 15 minutes - woohoo! Mrs TE goes to her first next month Good luck to 'Mrs' MOORHOPPER. Sounds like she don't need too much though .
