I feel they should.
1) It is our national sport
2) This country invented association football. It would be silly for that to be overlooked.
3) It's long overdue (I'm sick of this 1966 and all that)
4) We are the hostable country in Europe that has hadn't had it recently.
5) Give us the opportunity see the kingpin football tournament in our lifetime come home. Most of us weren't around or were kids at the time(I was 3).

This came up when I was having a recent dicussion about the 2012 Olympics. One person said it's too expensive, a waste of money and won't benefit Londoners in the long term. And suggested hosting the World Cup would a lot a beteer as we got plenty (which he named) of existing grounds that up to the standard to do so. Without incurring vast expense in upgrading or building new ones.

Sorry but you are wrong here. The housing shortage has not been caused by the fact that council homes were sold ...they were sold to existing council tennants and therefore the council lists would have been reduced by a corresponding amount. As long as these houses are occupied and not standing empty, then they are in no way contributing to any housing shortage. What HAS contributed, is the fact that insufficient new houses have been built to accommodate the increasing population. If the houses that were sold off were still council owned, there would still be a housing shortage.
Right to Buy allowed many working class people to invest in their bricks and mortar instead of paying dead rent.
Whilst the sale of social housing may not have contributed to the housing shortage per se it has certainly adversely affected the availability of decent affordable rented properties...the problem here is that council houses should have been sold at full market value and any monies reinvested in public housing stock...not at knock down prices in a tory attempt to gerrymander the vote
