I've been a member of the forum for 7 years (bloody hell!) now, haven't been active for a couple due to real life rearing its boring head and had a little giggle to myself when I started reading this thread - there isn't much that changes.
I've felt left out of the "clique", been accused of being in the "clique" and had a go at others trying to cause ripples by making comments.
The forum acts just like real life, from kids in the playground to people at work. You can never get on with everyone, not everyone is the same, and you can be better friends with some than others. Nothing is different here than in real life, laughter, sarcasm, disagreements and discussion. It's just more harsh written than spoken.
Ignore what you don't agree with, post when you do, if you are unsure about something - try asking the person in a private message.

My parents did a good job but there was a huge generation gap between me and my dad and we both have tempers, when I went off the rails, those two factors were the problem.
I had some freedom as a teenager, my parents would say I had too much, I would disagree but say that I had the wrong sort of freedom.
My kids have strict no-deviation rules, however they have an awful lot more freedom than I had, but it is a lot more supervised.

I used to update mine regularly but since uni and being self employed it's probably not been updated half as much as it used too.
I probably update my LinkedIn account, a huge amount more now though.

Both Morbius and I deliberated putting a note out as we aren't regulars here any longer, we withdrew from the "scene" a while back but we do have some wonderful memories and friends here, and some will know of our situation.
Back in 2004 our daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia and we received such support here at the time. She relapsed in 2007 and received a bone marrow transplant but it is our sad news to say that she relapsed last month and passed away yesterday.
She was a very strong young lady and battled the disease until the very end, such courage and dignity in a 14 year old and a beautiful child who retained a smile even through the toughest days.
We want to pass on our thanks to everyone who has wished us well or supported us over the last 5½ years.
Love to you all

Lovely to see Will and the delightful Sappho around.
It's our wedding anniversary today but we're apart sadly, however SH Champagne would be welcome barman.

Wind in the willows - Kenneth Graeme (could read this over and over again and there is a little place outside Youlgreave in Derbyshire that is the essence of this book)
Eric - Terry Pratchett (first Pratchett I read)
Time Traveller's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
Turning Thirty - Mike Gayle (my childhood sweetheart/best friend and I caught up after a few years and he said this book reminded me of him and it was exactly how we were LOL)
