I have to admit i got totally sh1tfaced at a social and missed out because i was far too drunk - it was nerves and my first social.....now i just like to be relaxed and quite sober as I prefer to know what i'm doing and with whom - and of course nixy loves the recall of the last meet as we have serious rumpy pumpy the next day.
We are vodka drinkers and dont mind one or two to chill out on a weekend but not on a meet especially if one of us is driving - I always want to be aware that nix is ok with everything and she, with me too - so if we want to have a session, we do it with our good friends only.

Smarter than a 10 year old - we all are..
Its a question of knowledge - these kids are sponges prepared for the GCSE with answers to exams - we on the other hand are fully prepared with streetwise abilities, experience and judgement making abilities. Coupled with full self awareness and less egocentricity we make a good job of living.
A ten year old is more interested in sniggering at porn and picking their nose whils having no concept yet of why a car at 30mph will hurt when it hits them - its experience that makes the word smart functionable. poke

In our lifetime - probably not - but as social taboos and limitations are broken down over the years it will become a norm within the next century or two most probably - the youth of today are much more open minded about sex than our generation.
If you look retrospectively at the social taboos you will see free love in many guises in the 20's 30's and even in Victorian times (although behind closed doors) - I think it is emerging slowly as acceptable - would swinging be a term used on network television if it wasn't in emergence? I see many TV programmes about swinging pop up and so I think its well on its way to becoming acceptable as a choice of lifestyle.... :P

A blank screen is more of an indication of a power fault or a fault with the screen/ graphics card

mmm good point but if the graphics processor is conkered then an external monitor wont work either....

This sounds suspiciously like a Nature/Nurture debate....no-one has answered this question for many years and the arguments still go on but it is generally accepted in the professional world of Psychology that it is approximately a 50/50 split......the debate still goes on and will do for many decades.
Evil is a man made concept. Without 'good' there can be no 'evil'. It is acts or behaviour outside a pre-defined social boundary that we all live under and is scaled according to the severity of the deed beyond the social threshold currently held. It must be noted that this threshold changes as time passes due to changes in social complexity.
Personally my views are that we all have the potential for 'evil' - it is how we are educated/taught to control this potential that is the crucial item in life. With a lack of control evil or bad behaviour is evident in all sentient society.

Yet another product of a failing mixed up social attitude by the state - Society shouldn't protect these people but it does - makes me soooooo angry.

We, as a couple get it a lot - Nixy usually comes on on weekends - me, being a house husband do get some comments from newbies accusing me of being a single male.
Shoe on the other foot here tho - males are accused of being liars yet fems on here are not to my knowledge - this is obviously because the accusers are blinkered in modern day attitudes.
Sad really though I can understand. Having met couples and singles from the site makes us secure in the knowledge that couples who think otherwise about us are not worth meeting or even entertaining.
I come on daytimes and love a good chinwag without some berk trying to spoil it.

I try to revive it. Lightening rods and van derGraff Generators abound, though now the twice dead lappy will do no more than show a power light... with the occasional (and I mean 'occassional') flash from the disc activity light thiningie.
the screen is as dark as my soul... I hear it breathing, but that appears to be just an automatic responce.
Is there hope?

Well sounds bad - obviously its still doing something - have you tried putting the manufacturers CD in to start it from there?
Alternatively - check the hard drive cable is correctly seated - I have known some to come loose.
To see if the drive is stuffed I would recommend a boot stick with a basic linux OS on to run it - see the UBUNTU website. If you cant even see a BIOS boot screen then it may be really bad.
Either way if you do end up discarding it take the hard drive out (should remove from the lappy underside) before and you may be able to recover the data by getting a drive caddy with USB connectivity for the 2.5" HDD
