Well, that was a surprise. We had a nice trip to Haworth the other weekend, and at the evil evil sweet shop I bought a little bag of pistachio truffles. It took me half the bag to realise what the flavour reminded me of. Not exactly the same, but close enough. It's funny how flavours and scents stay in your memory for decades

There's no need to be concerned about fitting in. You get all sorts of people at clubs. All shapes, sizes, ages, and interests.

The one I go to (ClubF) has a Curvy Girls night once a month, specifically for women who are less confident about their bodies. If you're very nervous, a night like that at a club near you might suit. But you can have as good a time any night. It's just a matter of finding the courage to walk through the front door the first time.

I don't know the clubs near you, unfortunately, so I don't have a recommendation. They're all different. Read a few reviews and see if one stands out for you.

 There is a group, and you're in it!  It's the Newcastle Social group.  It's not very active, but there are some posts with suggestions for hotels.  A bit closer to the time I'll give details on where we'll be meeting.

Last year was a bittersweet one for me.  It had a lot of friends suffering various hardships, and it nearly broke my heart that I could do nothing to help.  But I also had a lot of good times in the company of a lot of good friends.

I hope this year is good to you all.
