Hi again and thanks to everyone for such a terrific welcome. I shall now attempt to stimulate...in every way....
Indeed, Erasmus's proper name was Gerrit, but being a bit of a scholar, he decided to Latinise it, and became Erasmus Desideratus instead. He originally lived in Gouda, where presumably he ate a lot of cheese, before going on to wander about a bit, converse with the odd Pope and emperor, tried to reconcile the church with humanism (yes, well we've all done that) and eventually became one of the intellectual founders of the Reformation.
So that's why I'm Erasmus. Cos I'm trying to learn to think before I let my thorax rattle. And of course because I like cheese and inventing things. I was going to call myself Wallace, but that little plasticine shite got there first :lol: :lol: :lol:
And don't worry, I won't mention After-Advent-and-Before-Epiphanymas. I'm a Druid, so I'll be out hunting for virgins to burn for the winter solstice....
Hi all.....After spending a good bit of time watching others swimming in the pool, I figure it's time to dive in - or rather, put my toe in the water! So hello to everyone. I've been lurking on the site for a while, and have really enjoyed the posts...Not just the wackiness, but the intelligence. Maybe I can contrinute something in terms of at least one of those :-)
A bit about myself - I'm the Ubiquitous Single Male - late 40s, just moved to near Bradford, seen a fair bit of life and its ups and downs and figure it's time to live a little. I'm interested in meeting, greeting and eventually playing, but frankly, I'm here to have fun, maybe contribute something, make new friends, get to know people and let people get to know me. Anything else is a very welcome bonus!
I'll leave it at that for now (though happy to answer any questions) and let you judge me by my posts - which probably means I'l be here about 48 hours before being blitzed sideways....
