Mal with respect I think Davey knew it was a bit of light banter aimed at him....nothing more than that.

Totaly agree that when new cases crop up they should be discussed but shouldnt it have been discussed and then something put on the forum to say that the rules are being bent to see if it works or not, rather than letting it be posted and then discuss it afterwards.
I think if this had been the case then it wouldnt have caused such a stir, I'm sure that the Mods and Admin must have had plenty of discussions with members in the past regarding making a profit when organisisng a social, (I know I have) which is why I objected.
A little forthought and consideration to the paying and non paying members would have been a much better way to have dealt with this situation.

The problem would be his ability to read this site out there. I very much doubt, for security reasons, that they would have wi-fi, so wherever he is on t'internet, he is likely to be overlooked. The other problem is that they often have security blackouts for internet and phonecalls to stop information reaching the UK ahead of official sources. This prevents unnecessary worry for relatives who may hear rumours, rather than official sources, about the death or injury of a soldier.
To receive 'snail mail' is an immense boost to morale when serving away from home :-D
