The only question I'd have is does your wife feel the same? It may be she's quite happy to have love without sex, in which case all your efforts to set the right mood may fail. Is she someone who enjoys physical contact (e.g. hugs) or would she rather have you just as a friend?

American hotel lifts tend to have a nice pre-recorded voice to tell you what's happening. Somehow it sets you up for the entire day when you step into the lift first thing in the morning and hear a female voice saying "going down"...

My experience of hotels is generally for daytime meets, and the cleaning staff are pretty unlikely to complain about the noise. It's a bit of a thrill checking in at in the morning, then checking out again at looking somewhat the worse for wear...

One good thing about hotels is that it gives both parties an easy way out if they want to cut things short - more difficult if you've invited someone round to your home.
Probably best to do the "getting to know you bit" somewhere else, and only retire to the room once you're gagging for it... If you can keep your hands off each other in the lift maybe you should have spent a little longer in the bar...
But I can imagine it works better for twosomes than it does for threesomes.

I think I may have mislead you - when I turned up he was dressed as a guy.
I got this long speech about how the girl I'd been swapping messages with would turn up later, if I showed how broad minded I was by sleeping with him first. But there were some of his speech patterns that were so reminiscent of things in the messages I received, that I was 100% confident it was the same person.
Maybe he had a fantasy about "converting" me? If so it wasn't the right way to go about it - I made my excuses and left.

P.S. I remember him as a typical prat, not a typical gay guy. It's certainly an approach I've never come across before or since.
