Amsterdambrits:
Welcome. You have a PM.

Well she seems to have had a relationship with John Brown (the Balmoral gamekeeper as portrayed by Billy Connely and Judy Dench) - and fair play to her for having done so!
Wether she was a swinger or not though depends on the definition of swinging I suppose as she was on her own after Alberts death by the time JB came along.

Have to agree with Colts on this one.
Every time I get the ferry back to Newcastle or see a UK truck I ALWAYS think of ES!!!!!
If you ever ARE on the ferry/motoring through Holland ES and want a beer let me know.

Fireworks should NOT be banned. The UK is turning into a real big brother is watching you/nanny state.
It is clearly wrong for kids to misuse fireworks, throw them at people, put them through other people's doors etc. but there are laws in place to protect people from this sort of thing and they should be enforced. Fireworks should be used responsibly and it is up to adults to ensure that kids do not act irresponsibly.
Maybe if the police spent more time chasing the bad guys instead of (for example) starting a campaign to stop pensioners driving cars as was reported on the BBC today things would be a bit better.
While I accept that fireworks are becoming more popular in the UK you should try living in Europe where 5th November means nothing but Christmas, New Year, Queens Day, Bastille day and any other day you care to think of is celebrated with fireworks both privately and in public and we do not seem to have the problems that everyone is talking about here.

Fletch in Porirdge at his medical whenhe is trying to persuade the Docter that he has flat feet to get out of wearing prison boots.
Doc: - Are you or have you ever been a practising homosexual?
Fletch: - What - with these feet?
Gets me going even thinking about it.
Dare I ask if this has anything to do with the Pet Shop Boys?

Yes indeed a big thanks to Blonde for starting the whole thing off.
It was great to meet you all and sorry that I dipped out on Sunday but starting a new job today I really thought I should get myself organised! I only found out on friday that they wanted me to start today so it was all a bit frantic.
Lucy, I will make every effort to be at the Glasgow meet! Nice to meet you both.
I hope we can do this again and if anyone is over in Clolggie land I would love to see you all again.

What I miss depends on where I am at a particular time and what is available.
Here in Holland we can get most things including a good local pub - even the good old BBC TV and Radio, but in France, for example, it is more difficult to find a pub, English language papers/TV etc. Having said that I spent over two years working in the south of France and was very happy there.
I have however just arrived back from Scotland this morning and have a number of "Red Cross food parcels" for the local contents are basically the same for all of them:
Bacon
Sausages
HP sauce
Chocolate biscuits - virtually impossible to get Club/Penguin type biscuits over here.
I spent my time at home up in the hills of Perthshire in the country and that is something I do miss in Holland.

All the approprtiate answers have been given already, but in short:
1 - Stop feeding them they will then go home!
2- Use a water gun.
3 - Find a friend with a dog and let it run round you garden and leave its smells over the place.
Simple really!
McC
Neither can I really - I am just about to send the PM.
