Bruce Springsteen's Long Walk Home, from his last album 'magic' (which it is)

References are extremely important, I appoint people, and will not do so without a reference, whilst I appreciate H-X problem, Id be pissed off with someone who gave a less than truthful reference, and then I went on to appiont them, not knowing what others knew.

Then surely you need people to be able to give a bad reference?
My choice in H-x's case would be to damn him with faint praise or refuse to give one at all. If you don't reply, they may go to a secondary referee who doesn't know any better.
what your allowed to say, and not say is rubbish really, ive often picked up the phone and told someone not to appoint a particular person, I would only do so, if I felt it was in the vert best interest of that company/organisation, the fact that this guy has put HX down as a reference in the first place, sounds a bit silly.

and how I/we will feel afterwards

I would think you will feel so proud that you could do something so selfless for someone
I was more on the physical side, I dont see this as a selfless thing, just a family thing that has to be done. Will I be fucked basically?
Im hoping to donate to my brother, he's been on dialysis for over 2 years, Ive got to get my bloods done, to start the matct procedure. Its the time perod, length in hospital, and how I/we will feel afterwards
It hasnt really been trialled to great effect at all on boys, allthough I understand that there is potentially no reason why it cant be done.
This is simply a fantastic medical breakthrough, because of the effect it can have on the young.
We are hoping to introduce it into practice sooner rather than later

Firstly the Government do not say that everyone has to be seen within 24 hours at a GP Surgery. The access to appointments and the targets that relate to them are quite clear.
If a patient wishes to do so, they are entitled to see a Health Care Professional within 24 hours, therefore the Practice must be able at all times to offer an appointment within 24 hours, or by the end of the next working day, failure to be able to offer an appointment that is bookable at the time of contact, is a breach of the targets.
A patient is also entitled to see a GP within 48 hours, or 2 working days, and have an appointment booked for them if they wish to do so. The appointments that should be made available for these targets are not emergency appointments.
Any practice who are unable to provide either of the above, must have an alternative working arrangement in place so that access is maintained.
The response given as described in the first post, is wrong, and only goes to cause more confusion, and give GP Surgeries a bad name.

I understand all this and acknowledge your comments Rising, but what if you have really (and I mean really) snotty receptionists (ones who have had complaints before)who when you keep ringing say "nothing this morning - ring back after 12", so you ring back after 12 and you get "sorry all taken, you'll have to ring back in the morning".
You then ring back in the morning and get the same "sorry all gone" plus doctors out on visits. You then say "I'm really angry as I think I have a water infection.." they say "oh why didn't you say so, you would have had been added to a 'triage' list!!"
That's what I meant before about waiting, if I had have been an elderly person, a water infection could have had terrible consequences. When do these receptionists stop acting like the almighty and gain a little empathy?
It would be wrong for me to try and get away with all receptionists are angels, they are not, and Ive had complaints about the lot of them were I work. However, they are often just following the instructions that they are told to follow, and I can assure you that there life and mine would be a hell of a lot better if there were enough appointments to go round.
But rules are rules, and the access side of General Practice is an additional funding stream to the contract that the GP has to provide services, they should not be telling you to phone back, the key is the 'offering of an appointment' within the guidelines we have to follow, if that is done, then patients must accept that they may not always be seen at a time that is convenient. And it is a two way relationship
It is a truly astonishing piece of legislation, which imo infringes human rights. Its a real sad state of affairs that we have a government quite happy to promote a society and culture of all day drinking, and have absolutley no issue with it, and to ban smoking............
I am a non smoker

I vote at every opportunity there is, from local elections, european elections, and general elections, my fundamental principles and values are to the best of their intentions served by one of the two main political parties.
I find Politics extremely interesting and vital.
