My advice - choose sites that are legitimate.... not ones where u've googled, not heard of, and are dead cheap.

I have to partially agree with you, how do you know a site is legitimate or not?
Every website has to be listed in search engines because of marketing (SEO). Sites which are dead cheap aren't always scam sites, the owners are probably working with a very tight profit margin because of competition. Its not a bad thing to buy a product from sites that you haven't heard off, you simply haven't heard of them because of their marketing or even marketing budget.

You seem to be taking this thread far too personally. Life's too short ;-)

lol, thats a good one, i like ;) I'm not taking it personally i just don't like peoples choices when it comes to software. They simply follow the media and the marketing but don't really do their homework, if you catch my drift.
E.g. when people say Vista is buggy? From the top of your heads can anyone here name 1 bug? I very much doubt it, many people will only say that because of what they here on the media.
E.g. Microsh*te have a strangle hold on the OS market with their marketing. Windows is actually the worst OS someone can use. Apple's OS's are much much better but the marketing isn't as good and the daddy of OS's being Ubuntu from Linux which btw is free on the open source, so the marketing is very limited.

As cu3b4ll mentioned. The best way of protecting yourself from Viruses is to change how you use the internet. Don't download cracked software, don't visit free porn sites, etc. Have a hardware firewall, but still ensure that your OS's firewall is enabled.

I'm very very surprised by your results, guess you win. Quite happy really because firstly you proved me wrong with the results and secondly i was going to offer a free piece of software if anybody proved me wrong.
I have to disagree with the highlighted comment above, it depends on where the software comes from. If you downloaded from Warez then you are very very safe, if you used torrents from a private tracker then you are also very safe. But torrents with public trackers and any other source you use to download software are very dangerous.
I'm going to shut up now on this thread before you guys decide to gang up and crucify me lol wink

I have met up with people in my local area who are not from this site and thought i'd give this site a go and see how things work out, I joined this site for the swinging experience.
To be honest, i haven't had much luck at all. I've had no replies to any of my messages and have probably only spoken to 2 people via the chat.
To be honest, i'm very close to giving up.

NOD has one of the best heuristics engines available, that works real well without bombarding you with constant FPs...(False Positves)it seems even Kaspersky is starting to go down the FP road, in an effort to outdo the competition.

You stated in one of your earlier posts that you use AntiVirus software that hackers use, hackers DO NOT use Nod32.
They use programs developed by themselves and they try to crack programs like Nod32, simply because its available on the open market and they know home users and businesses would use these programs.

May cost a few bit off bucks but trust me you can't get better, for security why not?
Trust me i run a software company i know what i'm talking about.
PS. and no, we don't sell this software because we can't get a contract so no extra sales for us.

IMHO it doesn't matter too much which anti-virus software you use, as long as you have a tight firewall and are sensible about your internet usage. You can have all the virus scanners in the world installed, but they'll let you down eventually if you spend your time opening unsolicited email attachments.
In edit... I have:
AVG (free)
Zonealarm (free)
Microsoft Defender (free)
Adaware (free)
Spybot Search & Destroy (free)
Hijack This (free)
I think you can see the pattern. ;-)

lol, are you having a laugh???
I'll give you a challenge, get Nod32 installed on your system. Turn off your internet connection and run Nod32 and then post a screen shot of the final result.
You will definately find either viruses, trojan horses, worms etc etc on your system.
To MaidstoneCouple: you guys should also try this and see how reliable Avast really is. Personally i wouldn't touch it.

I use the anti virus software that the hackers use I don't use the number one commercial one, cos that is what the hackers are writing virus's to break into mostly.

So what would that be???
Here is a list of Antivirus programs that you should use but I would only use one of the 1st two:
Nod32 (from Eset) - Currently the best on the market
Kapersky - Also brilliant but not as good as Nod32
AVG - not too bad
McAfee - Very well marketed but rubbish and very resource hungary, slows down your system
Norton - Also very well marketed but rubbish and very resource hungary, slows down your system
Bullguard - complete waste of time along with anything else you can think off

You should use Firefox instead of IE, its more stable and user friendly than any IE.

This guys is all part of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), every website has to be Search Engine Optimisied for marketing purposes. Even if websites are not optimised then Google Bots will automatically and randomly crawl sites for information, there is nothing a site owner can do.
But if some ads or photos as some of you guys are claiming are showing up in Google then there is nothing that really can be done by the site admin.
By claiming that the website is 100% secure isn't always true and things are sometimes out of the control of sites owners or webmasters especially when it come to SEO.
Its like buying a 150GB HD, you will never ever ever ever get 150GB of HD space out of it, you will get approx
Your security on the internet is wide open to compromise and you can never stop it, you can slow it down but thats it.

I may be tempted to come if thats ok with you but will confirm at a leter date.

I have a few computers and they are all vista and and all have cams installed and working. You need the vista drivers, obviously for your particular cam but some of the older cams do not work with vista because they have no drivers for it.

This should resolve your problem.

15 years ago the internet (if born, not sure?) was at least in its infancy and not widely used...

Sorry guys but i have to be a bit of a nerd here. The internet was actually born in the later part of 1969.
To answer your question, even though i'm new here and haven't met anybody technology has made it a lot easier. As stated in the posts above a Sat Nav will get you anywhere and no more letters or weeks of waiting; simply log on, start chatting and choosing.

my brother got an IVA through the bank though not one of these that are out solely to make money
not 100% on the ins and outs but i took it to mean this -
an IVA takes all your debts and pays them off and then you pay back (less interest doing it that way) and i think credit rep is rebuilt slowly

Agree but it doesn't build your credit score. It stays against your name for approx 7 years. Quick example; if you owe £20K over 10 years and your repaying £200 a month, with an IVA you reduce the period to 5 years so you are debt free later on in life. So over 5 years you will pay approx £300 a month, half the time almost double the payment. But the repayment amount will be negotiated with the debters. Also, you can only apply for an IVA if you have debts over £15K.
Bankruptcy currently lasts 5 years, once you file for bankruptcy and are put on the register and all your debts will be wiped clean. Not recommended if you have a car on finance or a mortgage because they will simply be taken from you. Also, you cannot be a Chartered Accountant/Company Director/Lawyer and a few other professions. You will not be able to apply for any sort of credit for the whole duration and will have to start building you credit score from scratch after the 5 years. You will have to also declare that your are on the register or have been to certain companies or institution i.e insurance companies.
You can apply for bankruptcy any time, there is no limit on the amount of debt. But nowadays you do get the little run around and the courts would rather you file for an IVA than bankrutcy, that way the creditors will get something back rather then nothing.
Personally i would apply for Bankruptcy and not an IVA but only after September, the limit of 5 years will be dropped to 1 year which will obviously work in your favour.
Anyway, i'm tired of all this typing and hope I haven't bored anybody by it. biggrin

Desperate to find a husband who makes at least $500,000 a year, a hungry 25-year-old has removed her craigslist ad off the Internet after causing quite a stir. She’s sparked a flurry of debate from cyberspace to Wall Street about her sanity and scruples. Craigslist officials said the ad is legitimate and that she got 40 responses before removing it. I know the length is a bit much, but you have to read the entire thing…

This is hilarious, please read the article below
