Well I've had plenty of those slaps over the years, and I'll continue to set myself up for them being the hopeless romantic that I am.
I'm a great believer in 'better to have loved and lost than never loved at all' but this one has to be one of the 'lossiest' so far (I know its not a word but I liked the idea wink ).
I've been dumped loads of times (only done the leaving myself twice) and it never gets any easier, why is that, you'd think you'd get used to it after a while rolleyes

Spiritedaway, do as your name suggests that impulse would be. Don't run or hide from what you feel inside. Don't live your life with regret.
:rose:

Thats great advice Libra, my impulse is to get onto my bike and ride like the wind, or as Meat Loaf/Jim Steinman put it "tearing up the road, faster than any other boy has ever gone" and take her away from everything that troubles her. wink
But do ladies really want the knight in shining armour routine, in my experience romantic dreams like that aren't always welcomed in real life - women feel so guilty about things that it often doesn't work.
Having said that, its just what I'll probably do - or something similar biggrin

I'm not afraid of my feelings or showing them, and I told her I loved her lots of times - it was, and is true.
Why did it break down? Difficult to say, its always been clear to me that if I love someone that all boundaries and difficulties are surmountable and nothing has ever got in my way. However, the same can't be said of everyone and I think the difficulties we had just got on top of her to the point where she felt it was easier to give up.
Now thats not my way at all, the more difficult things are the harder I try to find a solution. The trouble with that approach is that I often end up overdoing it and I don't want to be seen as hassling her, that would be counter productive.
I kind of feel she's not all that happy about the separation, so I really think we need to talk, its just been impossible since that admission last week and thats probably why I'm in this state of purgatory - nothing's decided.

Hi All,
I've been away for a little while (due to pressure of work), but I just had to log in and say Hi cos I'm very confused and I think only you wonderful people can help me out here.
A bit of background; I met the girl I've searched for all my life a few months ago and we fell for each other completely (or so it seemed). There are a number of complications that I won't go into here but about 6 weeks ago she finished with me, but still wanted to keep in touch, in fact still be 'special' friends - she just needed lots of 'space'.
Anyway, I took it very badly (who doesn't) and was just getting used to the loss when last week while talking on the phone I almost told her I love her which I've been trying not to cos I don't want to pressurise her etc. I fiented and said something else but she realised what had happened and so I admitted it, she then said she feels the same.
As a result I'm now totally confused, more to the point we haven't been able to have a private discussion to talk it through, I think neither of us knows where we stand with each other.
Maybe I just need everyone to tell me I'm being stupid and to move on, but I do know I still love this girl and that I do want her back.
Not sure what else to say, I don't expect advice, maybe just some thoughts on the subject.

I, and my family have been in a similar situation, not the same condition, but extremely serious and acutely life-threatening for a 4 year old (my niece).
I feel for you, empathise with you and will be thinking of you.
You have my best wishes.

Well, maybe I'd noticed before Alex, but I didn't like to be too mean to Ice, especially as people weren't able to tell what sex he was before he put his new avatar with the waiter parts on wink

All the seasons are wonderful in their own way, only trouble is I've seen too many of all of them wink
Seriously though, the change is so refreshing, I'm not sure I'd like to live in any constant climate.
I try to be circumspect about the weather (have to living in Scotland  ) and remember a line from one of Robert Heinlein's books (Time Enough For Love I think, but I may be wrong) "You can't argue with the weather".

lol I know just what you mean. Maybe you could also start adding some of your pictures into your PowerPoint to see if that wakes them up wink
Sorry about the hijack there - just to get back on track a bit, I've recently taken up learning to play guitar.
Also well into motorbiking and I read lots, almost exclusively fiction - sci-fi being my favourite but I read almost anything (except romantic). Average book consumption is about 30 a year.
Speaking of books has anyone ever bought anything from the erotic print society?
redface whoops, here goes another hijack

I'm sure everyone will know blue is a 'fun girl' but without having a full understanding of just how much fun she really is wink
Just a thought blue, but if anyone in that presentation yesterday is a member of SH they all know who you are now  Or do you think they'll just think its a coincidence?

Edited that cos I missed out a letter redface
I have to mention doggingquote]
Thats excellent, Blue biggrin I used to be a TV Producer and used to try and work similar things into every programme I made - not about dogging though (mores the pity), usually whatever I was amused by at the time. Often it might just be a visual pun but it made me laugh watching peoples' reactions when they 'got it'.
Which prompts me to ask; how do your audience react to the mention of dogging?

wink Well if we're in Scots pedant mode: a sassenach is a Lowland Scot and one from the Highlands? A teuchter!!!
The Scots were historically far too busy fighting each other to bother about calling the English anything more disparaging than "English" lol
And anyway, we're all descended from tribes that came from Central Europe. cool

Mine turned out a few strangely apt ones:
A WRY IDEAS PIT - but turning them into something useful is a struggle
A DIETARY WISP - I must eat more and do less excercise
A WAYSIDE TRIP - I'm always getting sidetracked
A SIDEWAY TRIP - I can't help it, its the drugs!!!
I APED A WRISTY - no I can do that for real wink
A RAPID WE ITSY - I really must learn to control myself a bit more lol
I SPY A WET RAID - this must be to do with voyeuristic SAS sex - slipping in and out without leaving a trace redface

A belated welcome from me too biggrin but also a question, is your 'partner in crime' going to join in the Cafe too?
I love seeing the banter between the couples while joining in.
Have fun, enjoy yourself and don't be shy about anything, this place covers it all. I was feeling down earlier, put a post up and within minutes got replies, puts all ones troubles in perspective when there are people who are happy to give you some of their time :D

You know what? I reckon all live music is great - I've seen some great and some terrible bands in my time and enjoyed every single one of them - even Beki and the Bombshells (actually the Macc Lads were a real low point).
There's just something about music played live - its so immediate, spontaneous and enveloping. Having said that I'm going with the crowd partially here - Queen were breathtaking, Roy Harper, fantastic cos it was like sitting in his living room having a conversation and an old but good band who are still doing it as well as they ever did, AC/DC.
I've seen most of the bands I wanted to as a youngster but I really regret never seeing Led Zeppelin - I was a bit young when they did their last tour.
I had a great 'isn't life wonderful' moment recently when I took my 10 year old son to his guitar lesson and we were both singing along to Stairway - man, have I started him off on the right wrong path lol

What am I doing? Its 11 o'clock at night and and I'm still here working - its driving me insane. mad Maybe I am insane already
I started at 9 this morning, am I the only idiot who does this or are there more of us than I realise?
There advantages working from home but sometimes it gets a bit isolating  I haven't even had time to keep up with SH today - something thats been helping me a lot recently.
We don't know each other well yet, but you lot certainly do entertain, amuse and challenge me - you're all different and all great biggrin There you are, I'm feeling better already - just typing that down and getting it off my chest has helped. :-)
There are other things I'd like to get off too  , but I'd better carry on working now...

Its a good debate and much of what can be said already has been. However, I would like to add a couple of things.
Religion is man made! If there is an omnipotent force in the universe then that force (a being or otherwise) must be intricately complex and infinite in comparison to us. What defeats me is how any person or group of people can have absolute certainty about the nature of that all comparitively all powerful entity when it is so way beyond anything we human beings could comprehend - its arrogant to assume that we could, surely. So by that token we are in no position to interpret a deity and impose what we believe that deity's wishes and requirements might be. As a result, because we could not comprehend, we create religion to 'explain' things.
Second point is; beliefs are fixed, ideas are not. Its much easier to change an idea than to change a belief - so I'm sticking with ideas, cos I don't know and never will. All dogma refutes alternative opinion - and that includes atheism. There is no proof of the existence or non existence of a god - and even then, just how can omnipotence be defined by an inferior being?
Conquering westerners appeared godlike to their victims in past centuries just because of their 'superior' technology.
To know a god fully is to be equal to that god, at which point it is no longer all powerful and, therefore, not a god.
Of course, those are just my ideas wink
