Once convinced Marie that "Walking with Dinosaurs" (a jurassic park type documentary) was a real place with real dinosaurs roaming around. After her initial concerns about safety she suggested booking a holiday there.

My worst line ever was to a friend at college - I convinced her it made more sense for the sun to come out at night when it was dark than during the day when it was light anyway.

was she very very ugly ?
with the amount of men pretending to be ladies in adverts and replying to men pretending to be women for what ever reason
it appears internet stalking / impostering is on the increase
any one got any first hand views on this and how do we weedle out the imposters / stalkers more effectively ?
congrats
hope you feel well soon

Why do we tip though.....i know longer tip the barber anymore as it is £10 for a hair cut now and i never tip taxi drivers as they are expensive should start paying better wages to staff so they should not be relying on tips!......

very good balance view....exceptions to this are
the paper boy
the postie
the bin men
all at christmas
any way to high jack this thread i hope i can still get it up at 45 redface

Personally I also hate text or lazy speak. But that is me. Many people use it so frequently in their daily lives that it becomes second nature online too.
Some people are dyslexic, some are not well educated.
(I would like to stress that Tigermoth is very articulate and perfect grammer in msn - but just not very computer literate as yet).
I just accept everyone is different and maybe try to see the meaning of the posts rather than the method of delivery.
As for piss-taking - I'm with Northwest-cpl on this - once you know someone a little then piss-taking can be humorous. But for new people - often nervous and a bit over eager and clumsy with posts - the piss-take can seem outwardly and unneccessarily nasty.
could be construed as verbally bullying of newbs
I also think we actually need more light hearted banter in here - but not at the expense of other peoples feelings when we don't know them.
Agreed whole heartedly
Some newbies can cope - but some can be intimidated - which is a real shame.
I am so glad you didn't see this as me getting at you - as nothing was farther from the truth - I was just putting myself in the newbie situation.
hugs, Alex x
i would have called the owner, maitre D or restuarant manager and politely and quietly explained the problem

Perhaps one of the excellent spellers who does not need spell checker or dictionary could just auto correct for the poor newbies ? ?.

And who would that be then ???
H, red

Also at 45 im stil lyoung enough to understand text speak and have no desire or need to publicly put anyone down for it!!!

:laughabove:
to be honest i think most of the people who don't type right could do if they wanted, i think many simply don't see a need to be 100% correct on a internet site
I tend to make lots of typos, etc. when I type in a hurry.
No one in here is perfect.
i wouulld love to be a person who never makes mistakes,,sadly i cannot see it ever happening ,because i am not perfect
i go for the culture ,,sight seeing ,,all things foreign ,,the experiance................................
