A male friend of mine admitted to me this weekend he once went without sex for 3 years. I was completely gobsmacked, I would have to be sectioned if I went without for that long!!! He didn't seem to think it was a big deal!

I would just like to say you shouldn't assume that everyone on here is a swinger, the only safe assumption you could probably make is everyone here has an interest in sex and sexual relations, in whatever form that may take, hence the reason you are getting such strong and different opinions.
Secondly, I would like to ask if your wife has such a "straight laced" attitude to sex, why has it only just become a big problem now after 19 years, surely she hasn't only just adopted this attitude?

There is no simple answer to this question. Just because the women who use this site like sex, doesn't mean we all like it in the same manner! Some will like the "cum and go" approach and some will be looking to develop a friendship with their buddy. As a starting point, it might be worth writing your advert around what you have to offer or what you are looking for. When I read through the adverts there is a certain content which will catch my eye, so the more detail you put, the more likely you are to press those buttons!!
I would also say I don't advertise myself as I would prefer to approach "my type" rather than be swamped with hundreds of unsuitable matches.

When I was younger I had a boyfriend in the army. I went down to Woking to a passing out parade for some of the new recruits he had been working with, only I "forgot " to go home afterwards! Like every woman I know, I have had moments of low self esteem about my body, it can be really hard to believe any partner of mine could find me attractive when they lust after Kelly Brookes, Halley Berry, etc. However, one comment a partner said to me has helped, he told me men are far too busy looking at the attractive bits to bother looking at the not so attractive bits, and this really made sense to me. He would re-affirm this by staring at my naked body like a half straved man would look at a roast dinner!
I would also suggest you take up a sport together, not just to lose weight but its a well known fact the the human body gives off "feel good" chemicals called endorphins which should give your girlfriend more of a sense of well being. I personally like kick boxing but it could be cycling, swimming, hill walking, whatever takes your fancy!
