Yes, Mrs Suffolk got one for xmas, and she loves it. She has read a full novel so far and it is still has a full battery charge, so it will easily last a few weeks before a charge is needed, and the screen is easy to read in any light as unlike a monitor or laptop, it is not backlit (so you would need a lamp or somethink to illuminate it at night!)
She got the Sony Ereader which is by far the best.

Did you buy the 505? I was very very tempted to buy this at Xmas but the review I read of it said that while it was the pick of the bunch it did take rather long to turn pages. I am holding off until they bring out the 700 in the UK.
OK I have to give our area large, just love it. It is the smallest postcode in London and the last official village in London. In addition to the following I think my uncle Henry Wilcoxon (famous 30's actor) went to the same school as Chaplain. The bass player from Right Said Fred also lived in Hanwell as did Kit Woolven (good mate of mine) the engineer/producer for Thin Lizzy. If I think of any others I will add them.
Wikki says the following:
* Charlie Chaplin, actor (attended Hanwell Central School),
* Daniel Hack Tuke: Distinguished mental doctor and related to the line of Tuke's which founded the York Retreat.
* Deep Purple rock band, rehearsed for their 1970 album In Rock in the Hanwell Community Centre. Promotional photographs for the album were taken in the grounds.
* Derwent Coleridge distinguished scholar, author was rector at Hanwell.
* Edward Augustus Bond (1815 – 1898) was born in Hanwell. He was a Librarian and Palaeographer who co-founded the Palaeographical Society.
* John Conolly was superintendent at the Hanwell Asylum between 1839 and 1844. He then ran a private asylum at Lawn House, Hanwell.
* Freddie Frinton, comedian, is buried in Westminster Cemetery, Hanwell.
* Fred Secombe ( ) One time Vicar of St. Mary Hanwell. Born in Swansea he is the elder brother of the late Sir Harry Secombe. Since retiring he has become an author of seven books, in a style which has had him referred to as 'the ecclesiastical James Herriott.'
* Jimi Hendrix owned a house in Hanwell, but never lived in it.
* Jim Marshall had a small shop in Hanwell where he started manufacturing and selling his world famous amplifiers. In an interview for Musicians Hotline Jim Marshall said "So many players came to my Hanwell shop, it was almost like a rock and roll labor exchange because a lot of groups were formed there".
* Jonas Hanway, writer, philanthropist and the first man to carry an umbrella in London is buried in the crypt of St Mary's Church.
* Henry Corby, businessman and politician, born in 1806 at Hanwell, died 25 October 1881 at Belleville, Ontario, Canada.
* Henry Maudsley (1835–1918) was a pioneering English psychiatrist. From 1866 until 1874 he ran John Conolly's private asylum at Lawn House, Hanwell.
* Henry Scott TukeRA: Son of Daniel, he became a famous painter. They both lived at Golden Manor.
* Peter Crouch, footballer, was a former pupil of Drayton Manor High School.
* Philip Jackson, actor.
* Rick Wakeman, keyboardist for the band, Yes. Although Wakeman never lived in Hanwell, he attended Drayton Manor Grammar School, on Drayton Bridge Road, leaving in 1966.
* Sir Montagu Sharpe: Lived at Brent Lodge. An historian and one time president of the London and Middlesex Archaeological Society. On local history he wrote the books: Bygone Hanwell; The Great Ford of the lower Thames; Middlesex in Roman and Saxon Times and Middlesex in the Domesday Book.
* Steve Benbow (29 November 1931 – 17 November 2006) was a British folk guitar player, singer and music director. (properly nice guy who kept donkeys on the allotments near the canal)
* The Magic Numbers, indie-pop band.
* The Who rock band rehearsed in Hanwell Community Centre prior to their 1969 US Tour.
* William Frederick Yeames RA: Famous for having painted And When Did You Last See Your Father? the artist lived in Campbell Road (there is a Blue Plaque on his house to commemorate this). He was also a one time churchwarden of St Mary's church.
* Ulmus × viminalis, a variety of elm tree, was first described from a specimen growing in Hanwell (in 1677).

You scored 81% on kinkpoints, higher than 82% of your peers.
Apparently that is a score of 365 (had to search a bit for that gem).
Goody more to do

I have no idea if this is true but apparently on a Swedish chainsaw it advised:
Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals.

Sherbert Fountains that really did fountain when you spat down the hole in the licorice. Not like the useless things they pass off now.
We were round at Mrs Wildfire's mothers. We did manage a very hushed one at around 2am Christmas morning. Bed made a one hell of a racket so we had to move down to the floor smile . We both nearly had a fit of the giggles.

Where's the "no chocolate coz it's horrible" option???
Sam xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I want this option as well, does absolutely nothing for me at all.
There is a porn doing the rounds (have a search on bit torrent sites) called Who's Naylin Paylin. The actress who plays Paylin actually does look quite like her. It takes the piss quite mercilessly so is actually really quite funny. Ends with a 3 girl scene, her, Hillay Clinton and Condi Rice.
As to the poll question, answer has to be yes, one way to get on top of those kinds of ideas and put them to bed once and for all!

If anyone finds the herd of hugs can you please send them over to me? It was my best friend's funeral today and I could sure use a few hugs

Just found a decent size herd at Chiswick Roundabout. I have shoo-ed them onto the M4 in the general direction of Cardiff. They were going a fair lick so should not need much further encouragement before at least Windsor or maybe even Reading. If anyone catches up with them on the M4 give them a poke to keep them going all the way.

The who is online search is not working properly. If you put a filter such as couples on and are returned more than can fit on a single page, when you hit the next button the filter disappears and everyone online is returned.
I have been following the "caveman" diet for a couple of months now. I initially saw it in the Sunday Times. I have lost about 1.5 stone and feel much better for it, and that is without being fanatic about it. Not only the weight has come off but friends have commented on how much better my skin and eyes have become. It has to be noted that it is NOT the high protein high fat low carb Atkins type diet which so many people have pointed out is dangerous. It is just a sensible way of eating.
Definitely ignore it. It's far more dignified. Regard it as a plus that you have discovered another tosser you can strike off your list and not waste any more of your valuable time on. To react by leaving would mean they had "won" twice and eventually we would be only left with the tossers. mad  :x
Wow that was just a great night, thank you all for your contributions, making a great thread. The very interesting insights by our American friends have really helped to make for a wonderful evening.
Hugz to you all.

I was in the States for the last election and it was clear that George "dubbya" only got re-elected for his second term because the American people will always support their sitting President.

Actually although this always used to be true in the last 30 or so years there have been 3 sitting presidents who failed to be re-elected: Ford (although he might not count not having been elected in the first place), Carter and George Bush 1. Whatever one might think of McCain it is actually remarkable that he is as close as he is given how incredibly unpopular George Bush 2 is.

I reckon he thought he was in for a quick cigar and lapel stain if he chose her!

Monica had a blue dress and Palin mostly wears red, I wonder if party colours are compulsory for Oval Office hanky panky.
Quote by niceandgentle
McCain has mostly supported Bush and is 72 and in poor health meaning Sarah Palin could become President, a prospect to truly fear!

I think that choice may come back to haunt him. It meant he could not play the experience card any more and raised real questions about his judgement for me.
Not withstanding the comments posted on the subjects thread, I thought it would be interesting to see if the swinging community had a preference between Obama and McCain. Most of us don't have a vote of course, personal self interest won't come into it, which makes it just a bit of fun. It would be interesting to see if the community's "liberated" attitude to sexual matters extends to our view of US politics.
I hope this is not viewed as too controversial by the mods. The poll will only run for 1 day to reflect the actual election.

How do you form an opinion?
Are you open to change you opinion?

I believe that John Maynard Keynes put it wonderfully.
"When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?"
Individual facts in themselves do not have to change but if our factual universe changes (i.e. new facts emerge or others that we took to be facts turn out to be false) then we have an obligation to revisit our opinions that have been formed from that factual universe. I can never fathom why some people find changing your mind to be automatically wrong.

Does go round the plug hole the other way to ours! confused :? Was on a water shortage when I was over there and only allowed 2 mins in the shower - didn't have time to have a look see!

It does, first thing I did at Sydney airport was to go to the loo and run water into the basin just so I could see. Also did the same experiment on the plane at 35k and it goes straight down. Plane is not being affected by the rotation of the planet.
Case of bad propeller head day! :silly: :silly:
Bright and Sunny earlier here. However have just been out and not more than half a mile from me cars are covered in white fluffy stuff. So have concluded that either
1. Epidemic outbreak of terminal dandruff.
2. Local Colombian community have had a VERY bad day.
3. Sequel to Dr Zhivago going to be filmed locally.
4. It has indeed snowed in West London.
Any other possibilites? Thinking of applying for an EU grant to research what is clearly a question that is on the lips of the nation.
