I have just had the very same conversation with a nosey cow who was convinced of the above. It cracked me up then too. There is about as much chance of that as the devil going to work on ice skates.
Besides, there's nowt on my profile that says I'm into rimming. wink

My daughter is 14 and she goes on facebook and I don't know what she gets up to but I trust her to make the right decisions in life. If we give our children you right tools they can do the rightjob..........as me mum used to say....... lol

At only 14 that is a cop out!
It is YOU as the responsible ADULT who needs to show that responsibilty in making sure she IS making the right decisions.
I know all kids make mistakes but...allowing her that freedom on a site that has problems and then use the " right tools mallony " is asking for trouble.
As PARENTS we ALL have that parental responsibility to look after our kids, and not let them make their own decisions at only 14.
No wonder kids get into a mess on Facebook and sites like those.
Check what your kids are up to on the internet, and don't take second guesses on their safety!
We are parents and it is about time people realised that comes with BIG responsibilities!
Kent, it is hugely unlikely that MarkZ's 14 year old daughter was delivered to him from the planet Zorg almost fully grown. Although given MarkZ's involvement, alien influence is feasible.
He has, no doubt, spent 14 years equipping her to make judgement calls for herself. At least that's what I inferred from his comments about giving her the right tools. He knows his daughter, you don't. Did you not allow your daughter/s at 14 to do anything without you by their side?
Yes, the internet is a dangerous place- but the world wide web is a part of the big wide world- and it's in that, the real world, where the dangers of the internet are borne out.
You're always telling us how dangerous it is out there. Did you watch your childrens every move? If not, wasn't that a cop out?
Hopefully, by the age of 14, you were able to show them a degree of trust. You would, I am presuming, have done this based on your knowledge of the individual child. One child at 14 will be completely capable of taking care of themselves while another, even a sibling, would struggle to cross the road without having problems.
I'm guessing that if MarkZ sproglet gave him any reason to doubt that he could trust her, he would reconsider his stance.
There comes a time when kids need to learn to stand on their own two feet. It's a process- not something that just happens on their 16th birthday.
MarkZ has spent 14 years on that process. He's lived it every day. He believes that his daughter has the skills and the common sense to survive the internet. Just as one day you decided your kids were old enough to cross the street on their own...walk to school on their own...go on a date...etc.
He is not copping out. No more than you, or any other parent did when you made those decisions. You may not agree with his decision- but there is no need for you to be derisive.
I think there's a general apathy across the nation at the moment, and that's bound to reflect in the tone of the forum. It's cold, it's perpetually rainy, (many) people are broke- it's just not conducive to a randy, happy, busy forum. I also think that there's more of a move to people posting in related groups on facebook too- conversations that would once have been had on here.
It all contributes to a slower forum. I for one get an idea, log in, and say something along the lines of "ah, bollocks to it." I should make more of an effort- we all should if we want to invigorate the place.
I too like not having every thread being the same tired diatribe dished out in a different direction each day. I barely ever go into the Just for fun arena, and occasionally have a peek into the Currant Bun bit, inflict my two-penneth & move on.
Note to self: must try harder.

her maths is pap... she is staying for months yet.

I am informed that my maths is pap. Should have joined you in that class Res wink
I'm unconvinced it's months- maybe I should do the unthinkable support ticket thingy. I'll look a bit of a twit though, won't I? Check my email? What email? What password? dunno
In fact, I've also just been offered another way to remain- permanently. blink But I'm really unsure it's the right thing to do. And now I'm looking like Im doing the utterly shite "tell me you love me & beg me to stay thing." Thankfully, most of you were here to see that when I left last time I didn't give anyone the chance, so hopefully they know it's not the case.
Res, I need a moment to compose myself.
Hearing someones voice, and knowing without it being said that everything was going to be ok.

My son has access to a computer on his own and has done for many years. He is 16 now. There are things I see on his facebook that I don't particularly want to see as it is none of my business. I trust that he is making the right decisions for himself and hope that I have raised him correctly.
I don't know at what point I can measure success but I am proud of my son. He is a fine young man. You have to do what you think is right for you and your daughter.

He is an absolute credit to you
I saw a (funny) but rude comment posted by my 15 year old on her facebook status the other day as I passed her. She switched pages quickly hoping I hadn't seen. I left the room, popped my head back in, and said "hmm, about that status" she muttered a sheepish "hmm" and I replied "there's no e in the middle of (whatever)" Her face was a picture.
Teenagers will be rude, they'll make obscene comments to eachother. They've been doing it ever since pens & toilet cubicles were invented. The medium has changed, and that has bought with it new problems, granted. The same thing is important now as ever- instil in your children the confidence to do what they're ready to do, when they're ready to do it- for their own reasons- and not before.
I'm not friends on facebook with any of my kids. Firstly, I like having a private space where I don't have to worry too much about what's said. Secondly, and I discussed this at length with my eldest- I don't want to see some stuff on theirs, either. We have a very open relationship- she's told me all about her "fwb" relationship, but I don't want a running commentary.
We are interconnected enough though for me to be told by someone if there is anything really untoward said though- this happened a few weeks back when DD was "venting" at me for telling her off.
My lover is friends with my eldest on there though, although I'm not. The swines have been known to use that against me to concoct a party surprise.
If you think that's funny...
...send a text to your home phone. wink
When at school;
don't forget how many grandparents you've "killed off" in order to be excused from doing your homework.
You could always stick 'em in flat caps & disguise them as Whippets. lol
Much easier to pronounce too. wink

*casts sidelong glance at Staggers, wonders why Staggers might have aristocratic hunting dogs* confused
Posh twat! There was me thinking me you was working class, and everything? confused Bet they're bleedin' blue, as well as blue-blooded, eh? confused :P
Anyways . . . Gem and I are currently hating the fact that we gave a beautiful Belgian Shepherd to me mam for a Mother's Day present, cos we desperately want a dog like her for our own. sad She's a bit like an Alsation ((( ;) )) or a German Shepherd ((( whatever? dunno ))) but prettier, smaller, sleeker, blacker, altogether more elegant and gorgeous, with the best temperament I've ever seen in a dog . . .
She could rip my throat out in a heart-beat, were she so inclined? No question. Simple as. She is without doubt a dangerous dog. Luckily, the Government don't seem to have cottoned on to Belgian Shepherds just yet. As for the perfectly pliant, biddable red-nose pit / rottweiler cross of my acquaintance, from the rescue that's somehow managed to let her slip through the net, mainly cos even the vet says she's a lovely dog and the law's an ass, well, the legislation is a complete nonsense, innit? Take a dog on it's own merits? ((( and there will always be risks, regardless of breed. ))) Yes! Destroy an entire breed cos some owners are fuckwits? No!confused
N x x x ;)
You've just given me an idea! Lets just destroy all the fuckwits! :borg:

my ass - it is humongous. I run 4-5 km (unhappily) 3 x a week.. and it still aint shifting.
I have a size 12 waist and a size 16 ass- just to put it into perspective.
I am reliably informed that my shape is changing.. but what that means is that I am losing my fat on my torso.. but still this huge bum.
It has always been the same. I went to the gym 3 x a week for 7 months and the trainer looked at me sympathetically and said 'you are aware that you can't change your genetics'. I told him that I would give it a damn good go. Pah.....
oh, and my shot putter arms could do with shifting too.

Running three/four times a week didn't shift my but either. Two sessions of Taekwondo a week worked a miracle though. Within 2/3 months I ended up with a size 12 pert, toned butt and shapely thighs you could have cracked Walnuts between. It was a hardcore class though- I only have to think of the night of 400 squat kicks and I ache.
I would change the layer of fat that's reappeared under my flesh. That counts as just one thing. lol

bye, for when you're gone if that's the case. wave

Nope, I won't be back- I wouldn't have been last time, either- pressed the "big red cancel button" on my sought after free account & everyfink. When I flounce, I mean it. :smug:
I did think of coming back as a damp washing up sponge to give brucie an intellectual challenge- but he say's he won't miss me so I'll be needing all the absorbent things I can find to mop up the flood of tears with.
Ben, Cherry, Lovely- thank you. kiss
oo er, that made me crave Ice Cream. blink
Bluefish- just a timing thing, I honestly can't smell you from here. Much. I have a feeling that had the timing been better, we would have shared some banter. ;)
The rest of you can flipa you can't make me flounce :moon:

Ermintrude's a cow!
at least I always thought as much
lp

I thought that once, but when she was last upstairs with my husband I heard him shouting "oh yes, you're my bitch!" so I must have gotten it wrong. Mind you, he had said he was taking her upstairs for a milking- it's all very confusing.
She must be a dog. Who ever herd of a "guide cow?" that's just silly.
There was a bit in there about the people who clubbed together to tie me to the chair in the corner & kept me here for a year, but it's vanished
Anyway, it said something along the lines of "whilst it may not have been plain sailing, I do still appreciate the sentiment from each and every one of you. Thank you"
As for the rest of you, my fingers are in my ears...and I can't hear you...la la la...
Erm, I'm typing with my tongue.
Oh, and, erm, having it read to me by my seeing dog, Ermintrude...
...well, quite soon, I think. Although to be honest, I'm not really sure blink I'll be offski. No more. An ex-member. Former forumite. Expired. Etc...
I can't say when, as the person who resurrected me as a surprise set up an email address for the purpose, and then forgot it.
So, to that person- thank you for your kindness, and admitting that you missed me so much you simply couldn't exist without me wink
Yes, I will occasionally miss the odd bit of witty banter, but there's no sadness, regret, or heaviness of heart- so please, no wreaths! Those of you closest to me won't be losing touch anyway.
To those of you thinking Christmas has come early- please, don't worry about the door hitting my arse on the way out- I have the padding, I can take it.
So, I'll be offski. Sometime soon- within the next couple of weeks I think. Possibly. Ish. But I wanted to say "adieu" before that moment where I attempted to log in & couldn't.
This time around, it's been a revelation. ;)

We've got weimaraners they're definitely German

And stunningly gorgeous :inlove:
But if ever there was a name that would benefit from a misnomer, it's Weimararararenner. blink
I said it's aimed at the lowest common denominator- not that everyone reading it was as thick as a brick. Subtle difference, but difference all the same.
FYI, unless I've overlooked a bored-in-a-waiting-room incident, I've never even picked up a copy of The Guardian.
And yes, lots of people are still using the wrong term, aren't they?
Their choice, I'll carry on pointing it out to anyone I have cause to. They can carry on, or change what they call them- as I did when I realised I was wrongly referring to them as alsations.
My initial reaction- and undoubted real life reaction would be to save my child. I would hope my husband would do the same. However, it looks like this wasn't a straightforward "One or the other" scenario- he couldn't get to his son, but he could save his wife- so he did what was rational.
Anyone seen the Will Smith film, I, Robot? The film features a startlingly similar incident. A robot choses to save Will Smith rather than a small child after a car plunges into a river- he makes the choice based on survival probability.
Brucie- I think you'd find that it's not down to simply "being German"- after all, the leader of the Nazis's wasn't.
And no, he wasn't from the Alsace, either.
Quote by kentswingers777
My point proved!!

Now who is going to write to them and tell them about their " misnomer " ??
lol lol lol

rotflmao
I was about to say I will- and I would, although as it's a newspaper aimed at the lowest common denominator, I doubt they'd care.
However, someone got there before me:
There is no such dog as an Alsation - they are German Shepherds, the word Alsation was invented due to dislike of the word German after the war...the kennel club no longer recognises this name for the breed - the are all German Shepherds.
Returning to the story, its the owners to blame, we have a German Shepherd and he is of lovely nature, friendly, placid and great with children.

Possibly, but are you sure? dunno
I am sure some kind helpfull person will soon put you straight if your not lol
Quite sure. I did think at one stage that perhaps I was an artichoke with legs and a little mould. But now I think I'm a Poodle. Standard, of course.
But then I could be a Ninja Poodle. That has the potential to be highly dangerous.

Mind you though- when I wake up in the morning I could, potentially, have turned into a small bowl of petunias. Or worse- a Labradingerdoodle.

I don`t want to have to drive around the fucking countryside on Christmas day picking up and dropping off aged relatives !!!
Think I`ve fixed it this year !!

We have fixed (very much huffed alot of people) this year because we have point blank refused to go anywhere, do anything or invite anyone specially, it was getting beyond a joke and after some rather jealous comments from family members I thought "stuff em"
We are making no plans
We aint visiting ANYONE
If you must visit do not expect fed unless you want christmas chocolates
Do not visit at dinner time on christmas day you aint invited for that part
I am not doing anything on boxing day either
This year is for US
and yes my mother didn't speak to me for 3 weeks following that little outburst lol
And you guys deserve the peace more than ever. If anyone dares bloody huff about it, send the selfish swines to me. ;)
<wonders if DG has been living in a cave>
Congratulations you two- may sniggers at mentions of rings abound, and the sun be shining.
