I do try to shop "responsibly"- our eggs are very local, free range, and at for 6 are a real bargain- yummy too.
I try to buy things like butter etc from the UK (or at least Ireland) rather than New Zealand. We eat tons of veg, and it's mostly very local.
Most importantly, I try to shop with the seasons. Seasonal fruit & veg is tastier, and better all round.
Eldest is pretty hardcore when it comes to shopping. She boycotts Tescos, and many other "irresponsible" retailers. I have friends who've seen first hand the devastation that coca-cola schweppes have caused to peoples lives first hand- that's one company I'm loathe to use...they really are appalling. But hey, whats the lives of a few people compared to profit, eh?
Oh, and I try to steer clear of stoopidly over packaged stuff, too.
We have Mr W's Nan's old stereo- with deck- in the workshop. It gets put on if we're in the garden round 't firepit, or have people round. The only remaining records we have, however are- The Chicken Song: Spitting Image, bought as a novelty for one of the kids when they were little...and two from my childhood...The Muppets! :bounce:
The kids- even given their teenageryness- all beg to have the Muppet one on, and there's a chorus of "mahna mahna" "do do do do do" whenever it's played.
The annoying thing is that people don't seem to see that double standards make matters worse- they simply breed resentment.
STOP THE PRESS.
HOLD THE PHONE.
WHOA COWBOY.
Can the military find it's own arse with both hands?
What does it matter? It's achieved something far, far more precious.
Forget the Gaza strip.
Ignore Afganistan.
Fuck the Falklands.
The British Army:
Bringing Splendid and Kenty together.
Make it a bottle of Baileys (to be used as a drizzled sex aid, of course) and we have a deal
Stimulation from a couple of big rough fingers in unison with a slippery wet tongue?
Erm...yes please
Kenty, to be "overly patriotic" is, to me, the blind belief in ones country and way of life being inherently superior.
One of my dearest friends is American, and freely points out that many Yanks display this very arrogant form of "patriotism."
Kenty, your daily postings about everything that is great and good about this country couldn't fail to inspire patriotism.
Hmm. An interesting tangent...Wife Swapping and Swinging- the differences. Have we moved on from the keys in the bowl 70's scene? How far?
Double hmm. I have possesion of so many of my friends/neighbours house/car keys...one of them is very, very hot. Can we revert, please?
