I don't get involved anymore, it's not worth the trouble.
A sad reflection on the society in which we live.
Welcome to great britain 2008!
Will the last person to leave please switch off the lights.
To be fair, how many of us have read the treaty?, I haven't. So if we had a vote on it we would not know what we were voting for.
I always open doors for ladies.
I always dress smart.
I always smell clean and fresh.
I always treat ladies as ladies.
I feel that when you first go out with a lady the man should pay, once you settle into a relationship I think it is fair for the lady and gent to go dutch.
I went out last week for my birthday and a lady friend INSISTED on paying for everything, I must admit I felt uncomfortable with this and made her promise that on her birthday she would let ME pay for everything.
Thats the problem mr powers, where do we draw the line?, I have no answer, but if that was the law then yes.
Some people may say killing a burglar is over reacting but my opinion is that if the burglar was'nt breaking into my house I would not have killed him.
I believe that when you commit crime you give up your human rights to be treated fairly.
I could write a 10 page response to this thread but won't.
The thing that annoys me is the fact that my taxes are keeping the likes of ian huntley fed and watered in prison, if we had the death penalty at least he could never come out and my taxes would not pay for him.
" I don't mind, I have nothing to hide and don't commit crime"
People say this all the time, but, we may not have anything to hide, but we have plenty to fear.
I would not trust the goverment to run a bath let alone a national DNA database. Look at the cock up of the NHS computer system. All the personal information lost over the past year(missing discs etc etc).
Whilst I agree that DNA can help catch criminals, I just don't trust the goverment with my info.
I used to be in favour of a DNA database and ID cards but not anymore.
The police know who the criminals are, it's the bloody courts that keep setting them free.
Another point, if the goverment had my DNA they could clone me! biggrin
This may sound harsh, but the goverment want us to all start smoking at 16, take loads of tax off us until we get to about 50 and then die so they don't have to pay our pension.
.but we would not think a slapping from a cop was appropriate punishment for speeding,

If it meant no points, I would wink
Yep, it's true, the munch was at a club and it was thier rules, I spoke to a few people who went and they enjoyed themselves and the club did NOT take a record of thier ID, but I would'nt take a chance.
Looking back on my childhood I realise how lucky I was. Even now when we all get together we sit round the table eating and drinking and giggling and it's brilliant. I'm also very lucky because although my parents are now divorced, they still get on brilliantly and go out for dinner together on a regular basis.
One of the problems with giving out personal information is the chance of ID theft/fraud. I have been a victim of this and did not attend a recent munch because of having to show 2 forms of ID.
It may sound a little extreme, but when you have been a victim of ID theft it makes you VERY careful.
When i'm dogging straight into the action.
When i'm on a meet ease into it.
but how does a 21 year old fit on a doormat

We hit them with the big wooden spoon! biggrin wink
One thing that was never short in my house growing up was love and affection from mum and dad. We used to all sit round the dinner table every night and have our evening meal together and were encouraged to talk to each other. Off topic I know but a very important part of my upbringing.
My sister has a naughty mat by the front door, works brilliant with the older kids.
To be honest blonde, I felt it WAS mental abuse. It was the main reason we split up.
Just going slightly off topic, I used to go out with a girl who NEVER slapped her kids, but she did shout and swear at them which I thought was awful. The kids were a nightmare!(in my opinion which could be wrong). wink
Blonde, I never said that I HIT a child because they walk to a plug socket. And there lies the problem, there is a difference between hitting and slapping.
You feel strongly about your opinions and I feel strongly about mine, who's right?, god knows.
This thread is simular to the death penalty thread.
We are all different, thats what makes the world interesting/violent/happy/sad/intolarable/tolarable/evil/greedy etc etc.
But is it child abuse? some people say yes, some say no.
That is why this subject will never be solved.
We had an ice age 2 million years ago that melted and it was'nt because of me driving my land rover!.
I think the whole global warming debate is just another way to get money out of us.
I do however agree with controlling pollution and recycling where possible.
I got a smack when I was younger and it didn't do me any harm.
Thats the line everyone comes out with, however, in my case it's true.
If you tell a 2 yr old not to go near an electric socket they won't understand, but a small slap on the legs to shock them will make them understand.
As children get older I feel there are better ways of punishing them than slapping.
I got caught shoplifting when I was 13, what did my dad do?, stopped me going to army cadets and took all my army gear off me, I would have much rather been slapped!.
We all think we are good parents, but there is no instruction manual with kids and you have to do what works for you.
