I am black – ( in fact dual heritage. Mum is Brazilian – black - and dad is English - white) my guy is Danish and white. Personally I feel there is absolutely nothing wrong with what you have suggested and well done you for raising your head above the parapet and making the suggestion.
I don’t know how many black women use SH but regardless of this, the suggestion is perfectly viable. Although I’m here for the social side only and absolutely nothing else, I do feel that if there are enough people interested in this type of event then you have every right to arrange one.
Perhaps by placing the thread in the cafe section has lead for some people to feel you are being disingenuous/provocative though I would like to hope not. Duncan’s suggestion with regard to advertising in the Lets Meet Up section is one you may wish to consider, that is really the only way you would be able to measure its popularity.

Quite frankly, I would much rather connect with somebody who strives to communicate in a language other than their first rather than with someone unable to master their own.
