I need to ask this.... does anyone think that this thread has been influenced in any way by Pete in Big Brother? The reason I ask is because Tourettes now seems to be the discussion of choice and it all seems to be down to him. That's not in any way a critisism.... I think he's done a brilliant job of popularising an otherwise akward (if not ) affliction.

I agree, and having first hand experience ie.. my son.. it is one of those things people find funny to talk about but awkward to encounter.
It is not just all about swearing, but the random noises and jerks they have to live with too.
No amount of medication will ever stop the embarrassment or helplessness felt by the sufferer and carer.
Well done to Pete!! I should say I have a 6yr old autistic son. Not quite the same but the idiosyncrcies make people stop and stare. Do I give a shit? No because I understand a great deal about his disability and why he is like he is...Funny how people think that mentioning and talking about somebody`s disability is often taken as offensive and dirty. Tell you what, if I hadn`t been able to laugh at the ridiculously nonsensical things he does as a result of his a, I`d have gone mad Pete

Can't bear them silences you see. I'm not one that's comfortable with silences when with people I don't know very well.
But when I'm with David, oh how I wish for just one little silence, just one now and again lol

Took this very sorry looking homeless guy standing outside McD`s in Stratford for a big mac happy meal. He took the food , went outside and proceeded to immediately rummage thro` the litter bin outside M+S...

I don`t know if it`s even spelt correctly, but does anybody else turn into a turretts sufferer whenever they come face to face with a gorgeous person? And is there a remedy? Will happily wash your car in return...

I'm very nervous by nature and soemtimes swear a lot more than I should when I am nervous but I normally manage to curb it when around women (well I try to at least) so I don't suffer from tank syndrome (turrets get it lol) however when I first met PK I was a gibbering wreck I spilt drinks knocked over ashtrays well practically threw it across the beer garden as I was playing with it but was that jumpy I was strugeling to steady my hands to smoke. I guess my point is a lot of us get nervous and the more self concious you are of it the worse it gets then it becomes a vicious circle of worrying about it and that actually makes you worse. But I think I can safely say that although you may feel people are picking up on it they aren't as much as you think they are. After all despite me spilling more lager than Manchester serves in an average night in the direction of PK (the one with sexy arse a few posts up) it all turned out good for us wink
Chill out be your self and all will be fine biggrin
Glad I`m not the only 1 with a twitch
