When I was a kid I used to go on the A14 to Cambridge on my cycle with my friend, (we are talking 30 years ago btw) and never had any trouble. I would never do this now due to the traffic load, although I agree the cyclist has every right to be there she should have known better, although saying that there are a couple of little villages on the A14 that you can only access by using the A14.
Forgive me if I have not read ALL of the posts but this point sticks out to me, a safe braking distance is a distance in which you can stop safely, therefore if you cannot SEE in front of you far enough to enable this then YOU are not allowing a SAFE braking distance, therefore YOU are the one that should be scolded for undue care and attention on the road, harsh but true. Larry.

Our friends from Stroud did actualy get here at 07:30 today instead of 8pm last night! Now that is what we call commitment.
