Also now that i have moved away from the area where i grew up, albeit only 5 miles away i very rarely see any of my "friends" unless i make the effort to travel over to them.
I find this to be mostly true, too. I hardly ever speak to the friends I have down in London. Out of sight out of mind. It's usually me who is making the effort to stay in touch.
I've been seriously shafted by so called friends in the past, such that I don't usually trust people now for them to become close friends.
But back on the original topic; I don't think there's an up front way to tell if someone is one type of friend or the other, you'll only find that out after a while.

better? Its funny, when I was on a night out a few weeks ago, I drank cocktail after cocktail after cocktail and didnt really get drunk until we went to another bar and I got onto the vodka and it turned me into a blubbering baby!!! 
There was me cuddling into my mates tits(not deliberately) in the middle of town for all to see, blubbing my eyes out over a guy saying to me"your so young and beautiful, why a face covered in worry?"
But vodka does this to me. Aftershock has a nasty after shock for people around me whilst drinking it. Well, really. You dont wanna be round me at all when Iget drunk which is rare!!! If I was to come here when drunk ive no doubt Id make a fool of myself!!! :shock:
