I hope you like Goths, Whitby will be full of them that weekend.
Well in honour of my first munch, I've splurged out on a new pair of black jeans (two actually, though I don't intend to wear both to the munch). Other than that, I'm planning on mostly wearing black (as usual), though not sure which t-shirt to wear, washed them all this afternoon so I've got plenty to choose from.
Didn't have one at the reception (neither me or the better half dance, and we didn't fancy the idea of making a spectacle of ourselves), but we walked down the aisle to Bron-Yr-Aur by Led Zeppelin and left the Town Hall to the strains of Let's Do It as performed by Joan Jett & Paul Westerberg for the Tank Girl soundtrack.
Interesting to note the number of people who like/don't mind hairy chests but don't like hairy backs. I'd have thought it was fairly difficult to have one to any great degree without the other, unless selectively removing body hair is a more absorbing hobby than I'd realised.
Just out of interest, any strong opinions on hairy fingers/toes?
'm only 6'2", so don't have too many of the problems experienced by really tall people, but do have a few compounded by me being almost as broad as I am tall (well not really, but I do have a 52" chest measurement).
Clothes can be a bit of a pain in the arse, or more accurately across the shoulders. Fortunately I've started to notice a lot more places selling XXL t-shirts and stuff like that, and although I'm tall I've got quite short legs relative to the rest of me, so getting trousers to fit isn't a huge problem. Size 13 feet can be annoying to get shoes for, I tend to buy them online most of the time, actually that goes for most of my clothes, it's the most reliable way to find somewhere with stock in my size.
I don't fly for several reasons, but not fitting into a standard plane seat in terms of both leg room and shoulder room is quite a big part of that. I travel by train a lot and book cheap first class tickets wherever possible if I'm travelling for more than three hours or so, that way I get to the other end still able to walk.
Other than that, and trying to find beds/towels big enough for me being tall is pretty good. I like being able to see over the top of people's heads, reach high things without a ladder, and scare small children.
The last book I had trouble puting down was Fleshmarket Close by Ian Rankin, in fact all of his books are fairly gripping and easy to read.
I've shagged an ex when she had the painters in (her idea), but didn't go down on her.
It's annoying, as I quite like giving oral (and have no intention of coming up for air resembling a victim from a slasher flick*), but other than that it was ok as far as I can remember.
*I may have lowered the tone here just a tad too much, sorry. I doubt it'll be the last time.
Hmmm.
Putting in Carter USM gave Cubanate (great band), The Fall (another cool band), and Bananafishbones (who?).
I think I might try a few more odd ones from my collection, see if I can find some new music to listen to.
Edit: I do find it kind of disturbing that putting in GG Allin gives a reference, albeit on the periphery for The Monkees. I think it'd be quite difficult to find two more different acts.
I used to be of the opinion that books were generally better than the corresponding films, but lately I've been changing my views.
The more I've read about film making the more I realise that it's not especially useful to compare the two different mediums. They're very different and a good film of a story could be very different to a good book telling the same story.
Occasionally you get a situation where both the book and the film are good and manage to complement each other, each providing aspects of the story that the other medium cannot convey. The two examples I can think of like this are 2001: A Space Odessey and The Abyss. In both cases the film and the book were produced in parallel rather than one being an adaptation of the other.
I've got one that could make a feature film, there was such a catalogue of disaster.
There's no way I could begin to describe in detail what happened when a party of Sea Scouts sailed onto South Walsham Broad in a howling gale whilst we were all moored up with a grandstand view.
Suffice to say it's the only time in 28 years of sailing holidays that I've seen a 24 foot long yacht with a 3 foot deep fin keel sailed onto dry land. It was completely out of the water, kept upright by trees on either side. Amazingly it wasn't seriously damaged (at least the blokes from the boatyard determined that it wouldn't sink if they pulled it back into the water, which they did).
HP on chips, though garlic mayo or mustard are both good as well.
Red sauce is just wrong.

This should be fun, apparently there's going to be a big bunch of live roleplayers and dodgy rockers/goths/punks/hippies who I haven't seen since I got chucked out of uni seven years ago. I'm still looking for something to do/somewhere to stay on Sunday, but I'm sure I'll find something/someone to occupy my time.
