Looks like it's going to be a quiet night Midschick, what's happened to all those people clamouring for a social night?
So the only question remains which drive-thru we go to - KFC or McDonalds.
Shall we toss for it? wink

Hung Parliament or Tory win even without an overall majority, Brown won't survive the Labour party in-fighting which will start on Friday.

Looks like Gordon checks into Swinging Heaven

Gordon Brown ...

Yep, he would be our guest, along with Mandelson, Balls, Milipede and Harriet Harpie.
The menu would be very simple too and served at about 10:01pm - consisting only of humble pie, and very large slices at that.
Wouldn't count the chickens yet. All the polls are suggesting a hung parliament and lets not forget the party in power traditionally picks up a few polling points over the last few days. I wouldent bet on anything besides the fact I'm voting Lib dem for the first time.

As for voting Lib Dem..... wink
That quaint American expression - the Fanny Pack to describe a bum bag.
Always results in a schoolboy snigger

This was certainly a new one for us.

Fast forward to about 2m40s.
Anyone else heard of this?

Sod the petty squabbles of mankind and celebrate the coming of Summer :bounce:

It's cold, windy and raining so business as usual!

Bugger!! we're going to a wedding on the 29th on the SS Great Britain we'll be miles away lol

The Great Britain is a fantastic venue for a wedding and you will be within swimming distance of us too!
Congrats Mids for organising this, we are really looking forward to meeting you and hopefully some others who fancy a pleasant evening in this great city of ours.
I did check the menu on the website of the restaurant and as you said, there's no "debauchery", but hopefully it will be the special du jour wink

I'm wondering.....if Gordan Brown is actually a member here..

He's shown himself to certainly be a member!
Good posting Couplefun
We are with nPower for both gas and electricity and recently switched to a different tariff. By doing this they sent us this little gadget which comes in two parts, the first measures your usage by clamping to one of the electricity meter cable tails and the other sits inside the house and gives you loads of usage data on an LCD screen.
We can now see in real time (and historically) our electricity consumption which is quite frightening to see. In a Mr Hodges WWII air raid warden style you will now hear "switch that bleeding light off" shouted rather often.
The big culprits are:
- hot tub (but no surprise there)
- tumble drier and washing machine
- kettle
- the sheer amount of stuff that is plugged in and on standby
So the hot tub which is our luxury item has had its temperature turned down to 37 deg C when we aren't in it and goes up to 38 just before using it. Doesn't sound much of a saving but it is. Also it's daily pump running to filter the water has been reduced from 3 hours to 2 with no reduction in water quality or additional chlorine. It's already massively insulated but we are also going to put a snugly fitted closed-cell foam sheet directly on the water surface. It's reduced the cost of running the hot tub by about 25%, down to 75p a day.
The tumble drier is now only on when needed, with a washing line out in the garden as the primary means for drying clothes. Also think about your washing machine load, is it efficiently loaded? Consider a cooler wash cycle too.
Kettles - we now think about how much water we actually need to boil rather than just switch it on. We were boiling about twice as much water as was actually needed.
"Standby stuff" such as power supplies for 5 laptops and computers and 5 phone chargers, microwave, cordless phone cradles, 3 TVs, PS3, 5.1 sound system, AV receiver, Sky box etc - used 400W and costed 5p an hour to run, every hour of the day and night even when it's in standby mode. Now most of it gets switched off or unplugged when not used.
I can recommend getting a real time usage meter, it really makes you think about what actually needs to be used and will give you a real saving. Better in your pocket than a shareholders!
Blatantly nicked from the Order Order website, thanks Guido:
In the first Prime Ministers’ debate, the candidates were asked to answer a question on immigration:
Audience Questioner: Good evening. What key elements for a fair, workable immigration policy need to be put in place to actually make it work effectively?
Gordon Brown : You know, I’ve heard the concerns around the country. I’ve been listening to people. I know people feel there are pressures because of immigration. That’s why we want to control and manage immigration.
How anyone can believe a word that passes Brown's lips is beyond me.
He stands accused of gross duplicity on this and many other matters which he is continually pedalling lies and spin in a desperate attempt to claim the moral high ground.
Dare to challenge Liebour on their policies, especially immigration and you get branded a bigot. What this lady said was perfectly reasonable and is a view held my millions in this country. Are we all bigots too?
It just goes to show what utter contempt Brown has for the general public and anyone who has the temerity to share a contrary view to his own, especially when the cameras are there.
He claims to be a man of substance over style, who doesn't attack personalities, being an honest, hard-working, son of the manse who is just "getting on with the job" but today showed his true colours. This unelected and unelectable bully has no place representing the people of Great Britain.
Let's see Mandelslime spin his way out of this one.
Interesting story and pictures here:

When British Airways state that their test flight suffered no damage I wonder if they bothered to boroscope their engines?
It's impossible to predict the state of the world from now until 2050 which is when the Trident replacement will itself become obsolete. Who knows what rogue states will acquire nuclear technology in that time?
The only way to mitigate against the potential threat is by a positive projection of military force and if Clegg and Cable think they could negotiate their way out of a war with the likes of North Korea, Iran or possibly Pakistan then they are even bigger fools then they appear over their hand-wringing policy of appeasement.
As an aside, the cost of son-of-Trident works out at less than a billion pounds a year over the project's lifecycle, peanuts in the grand scheme of things and will keep many people employed.
However I fear the real problem over the coming years and decades will be trying to protect major cities against a nuclear attack by terrorists, the so-called "weapon of mass disruption". There's a hell of a lot of missing uranium especially since the USSR broke up and it's not beyond the wit of man to predict what a major coup to the likes of Bin Laden achieving something like this in Tel Aviv, Washington or London would be.
A question for the site's designers - are you actually swingers or do you do this just for a job?
I ask because the layout doesn't instantly give the sort of info that is needed. You have to scroll down just to get to the location but the biggest and most prominent feature is given to the (for want of a better phrase) "picture bar".
Why is this? To avoid any accusation of pandering to the voyeurs and picture collectors, why not place the Quick Information and Looking For towards the top of the profile page screen and then the pix at the bottom.

I'm in a similar situation my job is poorly paid many people around me are unemployed and seemingly in possession of more disposable income than me...there are also people around me struggling on benefits..all i can say is that just because a system is abused doesn't make it wrong, if people abuse the system then that's a matter for the law and their conscience and not mine.

Some people have no problems with their conscience, this story will make the blood boil of any normal hardworking person who is struggling to keep their head above water in the current financial climate.
Just ignore the fact you are clicking onto the DM website as you take a deep breath and prepared to be shocked.

Surely the quick imformation should be at the top? It's all very pretties but, I can't tell who has got Extras and who hasn't anymore, no more secret perving for me :lol2: And on that note as the option to make your profile different as an Extras member is now available to all, what are Extra's members going to be getting instead?
Personally I liked mine the way it was, can we just have a plain option, ie No style?

What Varca said +1
This looks like it's been designed by and for teens on some social networking site. Visually a disaster, offering a cluttered look and feel. Someone needs to be sent on a course for Human Machine Interface specification.
Remember when Tony Blair swept into office, grandiosely proclaiming to drive sleaze from office. Well Tone, it looks like you jolly well failed to get your house in order.
Let's have a look at what these 3 are up in front of the beak for:
Jim Devine - submitted claims for £8700 using false invoices
Elliot Morley - claimed £16800 for a mortgage that had already been paid off
David Chaytor - claimed £13000 for a mortgage that had already been paid off
All allegedly of course.
It really makes you sick how these leaches can act in the manner they have, living off the tax payer for years and then expecting us to fund their defence having got caught with their hands well and truly in the till.
I really hope they (and the Tory who isn't claiming legal aid) get found guilty and sentenced to the full 7 year prison term. Chances of that happening - virtually nil.
Tweeky, you claim not to be affected and all that matters is the money in your pocket so please answer yes or no to the following questions:
Do you pay council tax?
Do you pay income tax?
Do you pay National Insurance?
Do you have a private pension plan?
Do you drive a car?
Do you have any savings?
Do you have children?
If the answer to any of these is yes then you have been directly affected by this "Government's" policies but you don't seem to realise or acknowledge it.
With regards to your rebuilt secondary school, do you know where the money came from, how was the contract for the rebuild won and aren't you concerned at all that the PFI debt doesn't appear on the balance sheets meaning future generations will have to pick up the tab? And that's a tab that nobody knows the size of and we are hamstringing future generations to pay for the bills of today. Of course schools needed updating but just throwing money at the problem without bothering to measure if value has been achieved is economics of the inept. Or New Labour.
Wow, if an issue over a B&B is enough to swing your vote then I dread to think what Labour would have to do to actually lose your support. Let's see what they have achieved...
£100 billion pounds raided from private pension funds
A £1,500 billion debt that nobody has the faintest clue how to pay off or when it will be done
An annual deficit so large that the yearly interest payment just to service it is greater than the total defence budget.
Lying about Private Finance Initiatives - they have been erased from the books but still have to be paid
Selling gold at rock-bottom price, but also being stupid enough to pre-announce the sale.
Huge amounts of money pumped into the NHS and education without any thought as to measuring if it's been value for money
Taking us into illegal wars, and then lying about the resources the army were given
The blood of our soldiers and countless Iraqi and Afghan civilians on our collective hands and consciences
Unfettered immigration, we have no idea how many are here or what they get up to
I could go on and on but it's too depressing. How anyone can support Brown/Mandelslime/Balls is just beyond me when based on their 13 year performance. Read their manifesto and see what they are going to do differently - it won't take long.
This is going to be an interminable month of waffle, lies, smears and utter bollocks. Short of policy, full of spin.
Just which party is going to put the Great back into Britain? None of the Lib/Lab/Con triumvirate appear to have the balls to do it, being too worried about which social or pressure group they will offend in the process.
It's gloves off time, this country is on its knees and it's going to need real men and women to make the tough choices needed, not the pathetic bunch of poncing, sponging lickspittle lackies who currently inhabit Westminster.
I say bring back the honourable member for Haltemprice, the man who regaled with the biggest majority in the house. Arise once more Alan Beresford B'stard!
Must be a whole lot of Googling going on to get us those couple of links which show bombs strapped to the underside of the planes.
But then again why let the facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory, especially when there's rabid, one-eyed fanaticism to be spouted.
Makes me wonder, are these people allowed to vote?
Quote by Lizaleanrob
firstly i`m pretty sure the fuel in the plane was ample so no need for a bomb really

Correct, there's no need for this "bomb" when the B757 and B767 which were flown into the towers each contained 40,000 litres of jet fuel which was injected at over 400mph and atomised before ignition.
But I still want to see this externally mounted bomb video evidence Louise/Darren claims is available and particularly look forward to hearing his explanation that if it wasn't a bomb then it was an "AWACS flight controller". I love the smell of a good conspiracy theory in the morning lol

hi
reading your reply im guessing you aint even seen the footage otherwise you wouldnt have answered the way you did. If you cannot bother to look for yourselves why comment. everyone i have showed the footage too agrees there is something strapped to that plane. yet some people are quick to ridicule without seeing it for themselves. If there was nothing strapped to that plane do you think id make a knob of myself knowing youd look and see nothing. look first then open your mouth. i dont mean to sound aggressive its simple....go and research the footage and you will see im telling you the truth. i dont know what it is but it is there. i got my reasons why the elite ordered 911 and ill give you a clue. elite/banks/trade centre/documents(paperwork files) come on its obvious

Please post the link to the footage you state shows a bomb "strapped to the plane" as you said you have showed it others.
Lostie is right about the numbers - the SH counter is rather enthusiastic it seems.
At the moment the claim is 1615 chatters in the 3 servers, well there's no more than 375 at present.
I wonder why SH advertise the site to be busier than it actually is?
Gardening tip number 1 - it's all down to the size of your dibber and how you use it.
Deep and hard, or shallow and easy? It just depends on the type of seed you are sewing and the quality of the furrow.
And it's amazing what you find, here's a view from Bristol. Zoom in to see an accident between two cyclists.
