Hypnosis will stop you smoking but only if you get a good hypnotherapist.
I tried to stop smoking. I saw a hypnotherapist. Had my hypnosis session. Walked out of his office and lit a cigarette up.
So after that experience I thought hypnosis did not work. Then after doing some research about hypnosis on the Internet I decided to try again.
This time I made sure I found a hypnotherpist with a good reputation. This time it as mind blowing. I never smoked again. It was not like I was a an ex smoker it was like I had never smoked in my life. I never craved or thought about cigarettes again. In any situation.
So hypnosis does work but only if you find a good hypnotherapist. Also it only cost me £60 for my stop smoking session. Just because somebody charges £300 does not mean they are good at hypnotherapy.
If the hypnotherapist is good you will only need one session to stop smoking.

Anybody can be hypnotised you just have to want to. The hypnotist only guides you into hypnosis. You take yourself into hypnosis. We go into hypnosis naturally all the time. Have you ever been driving and suddenly can't remember the last 5 - 10 minutes or so and yet you have driven safely? You were in hypnosis. Have you ever been so engrosed in a book or the TV that you did not hear somebody saying your name until the said it for the third or fourth time? You were in hypnosis. In hypnosis you loose awareness of your suroundings and concentrate on one thing.
The hypnotherapist does not have some sort of wierd control over you once you are in hypnosis. You will remember everything that happened during the hypnosis session.
An decent hypnotist will make sure you are in hypnosis before he or she carries on with their work.
Anyway hypnosis is now old hat. The new one is Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT for short. With EFT you are fully awake but it does still deal with the subconcious mind like hypnosis.
