So much fun.

Sounds like a lack of leadership from the top.

It is cowardly and unfair to do it in open forum in the absence of the alleged 'no show' party. And should be stamped on. As yet verification is not part of the site's services and if it is it would be done differently wouldn't it.
It has, as you rightly say Minxy, always gone on in private. That could be equally cowardly (gossipy)but it could also be to save a friend from making the same mistake as you - then it is a matter of judgement.

Does it not depend on how the compliments are paid?
If they are done in a leery way whilst the bloke can't take his eyes of yer daughter then it is not acceptable if she is underage by your laws or standards.
If it is done in a matter of fact way whilst he looks you directly in the eye and then walks off then it might be acceptable.

I think the favoured expression is 'Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out'.
I think we should be careful to distinguish between a gradual, fairly silent withdrawal, which quite frankly is boring but understandable as opposed to a good flounce. A flounce ain't a flounce without a liberal dose of high dudgeon and sometimes indignant flatulata. Love 'em.

Why avoid meeting someone just because they've said a few things with which you don't agree? If we did that we'd all be living in Stepford wouldn't we.
Some differences of opinion might stop you being long-term friends - they may not. Even then they may not preclude you having sex.
The Lady hypothesises too much methinks.
