Hi... a long story.
My wife, Dee, used to take our son off to his weekly class and our daughter (13) to dance classes. The guy in charge (Ian)was strict, so strict he seemed to get off by shouting at his 'helper' - a young woman of about 19, called Fran - when she made a mistake when they were showing the next series of steps and would threaten to tan her backside. One evening Ian was teaching some steps and my daughter couldn't get it right and he told her to go and stand by the side. She wasn't happy -obvious to the guy in charge who told her to face the wall! My wife, who had been watching told her to do as he had said. The next week I wasn't surprised to hear that my wife had dropped off both our son and daughter to tai-kwondo and she went along to the dance class to let this guy know why our daughter wouldn't be attending again.
Amazingly she came back, telling me she had been asked to be a 'helper' at his classes as he needed someone to remind him that they were only teenagers and to give him an occasional dig in the ribs if when he started shouting. All well and good for the remainder of the year, until the end of June, when there was to be a Friday 'social' dance at a local hall. Both our two had seperate sleepovers. My wife asked me to go along, even if it was just a couple of hours, as she knew my night-shift at the care-home started at ten. So we went, having dropped off the kids.
The group who had been booked were very good. Ted, who apparently organised the event for Ian, had some seven 'helpers' who were brilliant at getting people involved and seemed to bring the place alive and Dee was thoroughly enjoying chatting with them and gossipping about Ian. When Dee said she had to be off soon they were saying 'you can't leave yet' and pleaded with my wife to stay. One of them asked where we lived and she said that that was near where she lived and that Ted would drop her off in his mini-bus when he was dropping all the others off. Off I went to work.
I got back to find my wife soundly asleep, clothes scattered, and a note telling me to stay awake and pick up the kids at 9.30 am. which I did. When I got back Dee was excitedly started telling me about the other woman 'helpers' and some of the things they had told her about. I was past listening and headed for bed, as Dee explained that we were off later to East Grinstead and joining in with the rest of the girls who were out for a 'burlesque' evening at some sort of club.
