The AUP is always important. You will often find one of us about late in the night, specially at weekends. The reports do however catch the issues that we can't be here to witness ourselves and they are all actioned on by 'admin'. If you guys want the best from this place then you have to help us out by applying for status or making the reports.
The thing is (and I'm bolloxed so if I have poor Enlish, I apologise) there can be a massive amount of rooms across all of the servers, there can be 10 Ops online or just one, it doesn't mean that we can see all of the issues that come up ourselves because we can't split ourselves up into tiny pieces. We might be dealing with trouble in one room when its kicking off in another. In those instances, it might not look like any of us are around but we might be in another room. We currently do the best we can and would love more people to help out :thumbup:

At the times of day when it is convenient for us to be online the AUP is extremely important ...but if I happen to be in bed or working it is less important....

I don't follow your logic. The AUP is important and applies at all times. All members acknowledge this when they join and each time they access the site (usage constitutes acceptance).
An analogy: theft is theft whenever it happens. We all know what the law is, but unfortunately some people choose to disregard it and take their chances because they think they can get away with it. We're not saying "theft would only be theft when a police officer is present". It isn't appropriate to have police on every street corner at all times of the day/night because (despite crime being higher than we'd like) most people are law-abiding and the cost to the taxpayer wouldn't be outweighed by the benefit.
The Ops (and Mods) are here to enforce the AUP whenever they are online, as well as providing help and support. If they aren't online at the time, there are mechanisms to follow up problems at a later date. Admin investigate all reported issues and take appropriate action.
It does disappoint me when I see members saying they've withdrawn from using chat because they've been abused in some way. I can appreciate how they feel and it must be really annoying/upsetting. But the only way to deal with abuse is to report it and get it stamped out. I don't think many (if any) would be prepared to pay a significantly higher membership fee to have an Op in the room 24/7 on the offchance that abuse might happen. It's frustrating when it occurs, but thankfully it's relatively small-scale and is dealt with when it's reported.
I think it's a good thing that this has been raised. It highlights the need (as already mentioned) for additional members to apply to become Ops, and for everyone to watch out for our community and report those (thankfully small numbers of) members who try to spoil it for the majority.
One thing I'd like to see in future (and I believe Admin are considering) is to have a "Report Abuse" button in the chatroom. This would allow you to simply click a button to log a complaint.
