What has happened to the Chatrooms on this site? its gone completely downhill and I
shall be leaving. I hadn't been on for a few weeks to discover it had all changed (for the worst). I've spent a very lonely evening with no contacts on sites that no longer age to be entered. What's that about? political correctness gone mad!!!!!!!

I dont think you can, the only way I can think of ATM is to remove your avatar.

Old method:
Click on user, click on 'View Profile' button at the bottom of the chat.
New Method:
Click on user, click the view profile button under their name.

I prefer the old method. In a busy room with the chatters list constantly moving, once you had selected the name in the list you simply had to click on the View Profile button.
With the new method the position of the user in the list can move in the time between selecting them and clicking on the view profile button. Fine in a half full room, but a pain in a busy room.
Also, the screen tip for View Profile stays on too long.

Please please please can the avatars be taken off the in chat room user name lists the picture being used last night wasn't even ours and this morning it has changed to one from our private gallery fgs!! - this surely is a bug that has to be sorted asap

A few positive comments on the new chatroom.
I like the ability not to show cams, leaving a larger area to show chat.
The choice of font sizes is helpful, reading chat is greatly improved.
Showing whispers in a separate tab is a good idea and works well.
Finally, It's good when you join a room that you see current chat, not just a blank screen as before.

If you use the 'scroll bar' to read previous chat, the new chat 'locks the screen' at the point that you are reading so that you don't have to constantly juggle the scroll bar (as in the old cat) to read the text. The 'live' is still adding at the bottom - you just don't see it.
When you've finished reading previous chat, just return the scroll bar to the bottom position and the chat will appear line-by-line.

We are finding the new chat room so slow load up, slow to show the rooms list, slow to show cams and slow to change rooms.
Also when changing rooms often, though not every time, we get disconnected from chat!

How do you access the members profile in the new chatroom, i have been highlighting and double clicking but nothing is happening
Sorry but I have found the new chat rubbish!
Its clunky -nothing transits smoothly
Its slow to change to anything.
It falls over more times than the old chat!
locks my machine up randomly which no other site does!
I have a fairly quick machine even tho its 3 yrs old it still has a fast raptor main drive admittedly its driving Xp but that should make no difference.
I think this is just change for change sake!
Yes you could argue you can get more people per room and on the server but at what cost! poorer performance for one!
I hate it!
I wish more people would vote with their feet and drop new chat and gop back to old chat!
the issues over the last year has seem many old memebers move on which is a pity I had lots of old friends on here I have simply lost contact with because they don't use the site anymore....

Check that you have the correct version of Flash Player installed on your machine - it should be Version 10.1

How come I don't seem to be able to spend more than 5 min in a chat room before getting disconnected!

1) have a look at page 17 re our post starting.....
Several people have reported issues with the new chat where they
a) Can access new Chat, or 'beta' version before
b) They work normally for 3-5 minutes
c) They 'crash' or appear to be 'kicked out' of new Chat
and as per Gufun's comment earlier on this page re making sure on latest version of Adobe's Flash Player, as this has resolved several people's dis-connection issues
2) re speed of chat, your earlier post.
early on in testing we also had this issue, as did others. Can we ask how fast your broadband connection is ?
If we had camera set to large and the camera quality set to ultra, then we were finding that our actual chat slowed down as the broadband session we were using wasn't sufficient to support that amount of data being sent. Simply playing around with our Chat settings to lower these 2 improved chat speed to an acceptable standard.
(You might want to connect to chat and just open this link in another browser window/session so as to run a broadband speed test when you are connected to chat. We found it quite revealing as to our actual connection speed between the various settings. Luckily, we are due to get a broadband upgrade at the local exchange shortly which will help)

1) click the profile
2) when it expands to 2 lines you have 2 new 'icons' below the profile. the first you click is the profile look up and the second is to whisper that profile

Can't get in chat at all
Update.... Been trying to get in for over 10 mins now but all im getting is it saying its connecting me?? Can get in old chat no problem. This is all becoming a bit of a joke now... After being a member for 6 yrs without problems to not being able to chat at all!!!
