I've just done a Victor Meldrew style rant to my local council because of the people who don't pick up after their dogs in my street. rolleyes
There's a grassy park opposite my flat and people generally walk their dogs there. I have no issues with that, the majority of people actually pick up after their dogs. However, there are a few who just don't bother. It's driving me nuts!
Does this bother anyone else? I've never seen so much dog shit on the pavements and other than ranting out the window at people I'm at a loss as to what to do about it. It's an offence. It's simple. There are fines for not picking up after your dog. Do they ever get imposed? I've never seen anyone pulled up for it nor have I heard of anyone being done for it.
I don't want it trailed into the stair, it's not the first time I've had to go down with a bucket and clean it up. There's just no excuse. I really detest people who don't pick it up. It pisses me off!
There. Rant over! mad
Does this bother anyone else as much as it bothers me?
Pisses me right off as well mad
My front lawn is peppered with cat/dog shite sad
i know of 1 dog owner in my local town that has been fined via the cctv footage of his dog fouling in a road gutter ... not a pavement or someone's garden ... still the same offence and am glad they was fined .. the same for those that get parking tickets really ... you don't want the possibility of a fine then don't do the illegal activity .... simples
It's the same kind of people that do not care about anything.
They would be the first ones to moan if some big dog came along and dumped a pile outside their front door, or their kids trampled it into their house from their shoes.
It is like anything else, if you want a dog then look after it and that includes cleaning up after the bloody animal.
Fine em five grand a shite, that will stop it.
Dirty disgusting gits.
Aye it has always been a disgusting and unacceptable problem.
In the good old days we had collectors and it would be used for tanning leather. Later when I was a kid dog shit used to turn into chalk. I havent seen chalky dog shit for years.

It`s horrible ...but I can see their point .
Why don`t cat owners have to pick up their pets shit ??
Seems a bit unfair.

Bit impractical that one ... unless I'm mistaken, you don't let dogs roam around on their own - people walk dogs so will be there when it does a dump, cats roam far and wide so short of following my cat around all day, jumping over garden fences, up trees etc, I'm not going to be there when it shits to clean it up. It has a litter tray for indoors obviously but they usually stop using it unless its an indoors cat.
If it's any consolation - my cat shits wherever it shits but other random cats will shit in my garden - just one of those things
Well there is NO laws about cats shitting in ya garden.
There are laws about dogs shitting anywhere on the public highway.

So if I let my dog roam around on its own, it would be ok for it to crap everywhere ??? !!
Because it`s hard to do doesn`t make it any less disgusting or any less of a health hazard !!
Because it`s difficult means I have to put up with cat shit all over my garden !!! I know who`s cats do it and I don`t see why I should be the one to pick it up. It`s just irresponsible to keep animals that leave hazardous droppings all over the place.
Ok I'm going to hold my hand up and admit to feeling a tad grumpy today.
I'm curious though Flower what can be done about it in your view?

I would have thought that was part of the ritual of the yoofs who rule the streets?

You catch on quick essex. wink
Letting any animal you own shit anywhere other than your own land without cleaning it up is disgusting. Unfortunately we don't have the ability (or the will in many cases) to do anything about the millions of cats. But we CAN and SHOULD do something about the dogs.
DG - I would recommend having a camera handy at home and take pics/film of the offending owners and send them to the police and the council. And keep sending them.
It is perfectly legal to take these images since people in a park have no expectation of privacy. And with any luck you'll piss of either the police or the council enough for them to get their fingers out and do something about it.
Is there a friendly contact on the parish/town council who is on the anti-dog-fouling committee?

No idea !!
My problem is the crap all over my garden.
Why should I have to come up with the solution when it`s other people that insist on keeping these animals ?
seems to me they've trained their cats well, your neighbours have.
People.
Any chance of doing a bit less quoting? Or at least snipping some of the quote? It's getting really tedious scrolling down all the time just to read a one-liner.
rolleyes
Get a room! wink
Any constructive chatter would be gratefully received!
Thanks Foxy... I'll keep my camera handy!

Sorry but I have tried to snip a bit of a post but just cannot get it right.
Yes it can be a bit irritating but no real hardship in the wider scheme of things.
No whips, he just uses a different road for his dog to shit in. wink

Couple of words that might be of interest to you ..
Parcopresis and paruresis . It`s amazing what you can do when you really try hard.

A cure for paruresis is to put your fingers in your ears while you pee. Basically if you can't hear it or anyone around you it gets easier.
Of course for chaps, that could get a bit, erm, messy. :giggle:

You're right, we should eliminate felines off the planet ... sorted.
When I had my shepherd, I used to take a carrier bag with me and always pick up the poo. Round my way the bloody chav's with thier staffies let them shit everywhere!!
Wouldn't it be nice if these responsible dog owners, who are well prepared and have plenty of carrier bags to pick up the poop, would just think about how and where they're going to dispose of the poo bag instead of decorating trees with them?
We do a lot of walking and think how nice it is to see someone picking up bio degradable poo in the middle of nowhere (among the cow and sheep poo) only to see it adorning a tree or stuffed in a nook on a dry stone wall a couple of miles further down the trail because they've got fed up carrying it, hanging there for god knows how long, not sure how many millennia it takes for plastic to degrade.
If your an urban dog walker Im sure there are plenty of poo bins/litter bins to use and your doing a great job, however, the people who walk their dogs miles into open country side - by all means enjoy it with the rest of us but please have some common sense. dog poo on walking boots is not going to kill anyone as it only gets mixed in with the cow muck which stinks just as bad.
Right after my little whinge, which is not something I usually do
My point is your little plastic bags in the country are doing more harm that the poo itself

shoot the cats with a plastic pellet BB gun - doesn't harm them but scares the living daylights out of them and they seldom return for another barrage.
Cat shit can cause blindness in young children - I don't care about their rights, they relinquish any consideration when they shit in my garden!
