She clearly recognises that normal decent people are more equal than others.
oh goody a selective equality thread :giggle::giggle::giggle:
ok the A B C of equality
in another tread featuring the word equality some of us was reminded that there was no lack of equality and the only thing needed was tolerance
so please allow me to remind you that all you need is tolerance or you could get a few shouts of double standards or playing the equality card when it suits innocent
only an opinion of which i am entitled of course wink

I'm confused. You seem to be having an argument with someone who isn't here about something that isn't in the thread.
as i dont believe you posted in the tread in question of course you can be excused for your complete lack of knowledge aayman
but im sure kaz and benny fully understand if not im sure kenty will along sometime soon with the similar opinion as i
The concept of equality does not go hand in hand with the doctrine of positive discrimination.....in b4 oh but they get preferential treatment.
The best game keepers are ex poachers
The best police officers have a crimanal mind
Perhaps the best Equlities minister...... wink
As i was reminded constantly everyone was/is equal anything else was/is a media propaganda
so with this in mind this thread is a selective equality thread
or have we got selective media aswell duel

So Theresa May is our new equalities minister, despite having voted.
-against repealing section 28
- against lowering the age of consent in homosexual relationships to 16
- against gay adoption rights
- against Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill which would give homosexual couples the ability to receive fertility treatment
She also refused to attend vote on Gender Recognition Act that allows transsexuals to change their legal gender, and has consistently abstained on a number of other votes to do with similar issues.
Some are more equal than others it of putting someone in the post who clearly does not believe in equality, why did they just not abolish the post?
Oh i forgot ,these are the new non bigoted tories.

Cannot see any problem at all with her not voting on those issues!
It is her right to do so, or are we saying that minorities have to have the upper hand?
The things that she voted against do not sit comfortably with me either.
Are people now going to scream " bigot " at me now?
I am entitled to my opinion on anything that I do not find myself being comfortable with, but then again am I really bothered?
Staggs old chap....don't hide behind a link old chum....say what you mean.

rob, i anm confused, equality means equal treatment for all
If straight couples can adopt why cant gay?
If schools are meant to be anti bullying why cant they have positive gay role models for the gay kids?
sorry im missing something here i think

I am definatly missing something here.
yes kaz when i questioned my right to equality i was informed that it wasn`t equality it was me being intolerant simples !!!
Because to be frank here, I think equality like that is not needed in our schools.
Kids to need a gay role model? Why does it have to be a gay role model?
Why not just a role model??
Or is it all about ticking of the right boxes?

Bugger me !!! there are parts of this I almost agree with.
I see no reason why the role model for a gay/lesbian adolescent should necessarily be either gay or a lesbian....but the converse is also true.
I think, as I clumsily pointed out earlier that many people see the word equality and assume the subject is positive discrimination...I suspect what really needs to be addressed is not equality or tolerance but consideration before judgement
I still stand by my original comments regarding the things she voted against.

because to be useful as a positive example people should be able to relate.
If a teenager is feeling excluded/depressed/outcast what is wrong with saying, look this person is gay,and there life is good.
We do this all the time with our son with aspergers, highlighting that bill gates aint exactly a failure ,so he grows up with a positive view of what people with autism can achieve.
We also point out the foxy red head in pussy cat dolls had a cleft palate, but i think hes too distracted by the videos to listen. lol

ok in a non racist way what should this role model be:: african, asian ,irish ,indian ,traveler, south american ,eskimo, rastifarian ,pigmy dunno
from where im standing no good showing a gay pigmy a gay eskimo and saying his lifes good you`d be looked at like you got two heads

This is a fantastic thread, I am enjoying this one
But I am torn, let me take one example, gay adoption. I, rightly or wrongly dont feel comfertable with it. Not because I am anti guy, but because, and I find it difficult to find the correct words here, worry about the child being brought up by same sex couple.

Bang on the money Blue.
The trouble is to express those views it will label you as homophobic.
Nothing homophobic about wanting a child brought up in a relationship with a man and a woman, that is the normal way of things.
But some just hate the word normal, or to conform.
Well I think it is normal for a child to have a Mother and a Father, and not a Father and a Father.

Well, not homophobic by any stretch of the imagination. I would worry for a child who was brought up by two vegetarians who would not allow the child to eat meat, but I do not dislike vegetarians dunno Not the same I know but just trying to explain my miss-givings are not to do with any persons being gay
just a thought if we got to have a role model of every sort in our school (equality )
where the kids gonna go lol
You do not have to explain it to me Blue, but you may to others. wink
